Thanks for the comments. yes it is an OG standard sunroof, it does have masonite over the skylight holes.
My son and unclebob will be going to pick it up this weekend and bring it home for me.
I dont know how old the logo's are but I dont believe the capital pub is still in operation and it hasnt been for about 20 years.
I Guess finding and purchasing this is my good Karma for spending this time over here in the desert.
Dave, I'll give you a sout when I get back and we can have a beer and drool on the bus.
Wooo Hoooo I am very Happy. |

That decklid looks right to me....unless it's a late '57 or very early '58. |

Picture of the dash in the 58. Evilbus said he thinks one of the gauges to be and old Dehne fuel gauge.
can anyone confirm that?? |

I believe he's mistaken. There's a couple different types for VW's - but neither of them are even remotely circular. |

We are? When were you gonna tell me?
I dunno if I can go fetch it for you this weekend. Doing some pre-fishing for the Kingfish tournament Saturday and probably Sunday too. Can it wait until next week or weekend? Let me know when you get the trailer secured. Does the trailer have a winch? Would I be taking your Tahoe or mine?
Nice Score! |

that pretty original looking '58 sunroof kombi that we saw in the netherlands only had the headliner on the sliding part of the sunroof. the factory photos that I have seen seem to confirm this. |

No hole to fix a headliner on the skylight on my 64!
Just the headliner on the sliding sunroof!
I try to find an OG headliner for my 64,if someone could give me an adress,or a contact to buy one it will be a big news for me..
Best regards

OK, just got some more pics of my bus. The inside of the decklid is still nice dove blue like the rest of the bus so I guess that it is the original lid making it a late 58 bus.
I also now have the Florida title and it is titled as a 1958. The vin also is correct to a 58.
All the dove blue underneath is OG paint and It seems as though the respray (Gray????) would come off fairly easy as it is already coming off in multiple spots.
Also has an old school camber compensater up under the rear. |
