Hi, Slalom...

It's a German made "Wiking" It was made in the colors red, orange, silver, and beige. It's a copy of the Apal Jet from Belgium, like my one :) -->>

Dear buggy owners and collectors,

a friend of mine has invested a lot of time and money to release a 3D manufactured original Meyers Manx Buggy bodyset in 1/8 scale
It is designed to be fitted to the currently re-released RC kit of the famous Tamiya Sand Scorcher which come in 1/10 scale.

The body and accessories (motor and sidewinder exhaust soon to come) are on Sale in the Webshop at Shapeways, the online 3D print provider.

Take a look (and order if you have the cash) at the components of Knight Customs here:http://www.shapeways.com/shops/knightcustoms

All it takes is some skills to fill and sand and finally do a good paint job to have a scale replica of your original buggy.

Here some images from finished models and roof / Roll bar versions available:

Very nice =D>

That's really nice, but I don't think it's $500 nice.. I'd rather get a Black Mamba shifter for my REAL buggy.

Thanks for the plug Germanx?

And yes, I know, crazy expensive right?

Check out this earlier creation of a tweaked out manx.

Created for a special Comic Con Show in 2005. This is a very heavily modified Hotwheels Leadfoot Ratrod, that I turned into a Manx. Those wheels are Diecast :)

Your Manx is great! I'd love to get one(probably will). I've already got a Rough Rider/Sand Scorcher suspension on a metal chassis with billet motor and trans covers, alloy dummy engine, alloy bumpers, alloy roll bar, alloy rims, and Sand Blaster JR tires.

Thanks, there is 20% off right now, that offer runs out on the 20th.

You car sounds cool, can you post a pic?

James.

Here's a few of my chassis. I like your Manx a lot but I really like having alloy pieces if they're available(too bad you can't cast your body in alloy). I have an old Sand Rover body I'm stripping the paint off, but your Manx is a lot better. The aluminum chassis and replica Jackman Aluminum Star wheels and alloy engine cage are from Taiwan/Japan. The billet motor and trans cover were made by Awesome Alloy in the UK several years ago I believe, I got them on ebay. The alloy front bumper, rollbar and dummy engine were made in the UK (J-Man). I haven't put the white lettering on the tires yet.

I have recently found a Micro Machines Manx, which I have been looking for, for a long time :D

The exact scale of the Micro Machines is unknown, but in this pic you can see it compared to the beige Wiking (1:87), purple Hot Wheels (1:64), black 007 buggy (1:43) and white Majorette (1:32)

The problem with collecting anything is WHERE does one draw the line? This new LEGO set called 'Olivia's Buggy' is now available, and to be honest I'm kinda tempted to get it....

...and then there is this Peppa Pig Buggy at a local store as well

Perhaps not strictly a buggy, but I would like to share my lucky (albeit pricey) BidorBuy find of the year! A 1:24 Type 166 Schwimmwagen sheet metal model by Gonio, made in Czechoslovakia in 1992. Absolutely everything is sheet metal, except the rubber tyres and windscreen. Not a single rivet or screw is used to assemble it, everything folds into each other.

I don't have a lot of information on the Gonio company, but I once heard that the metal used for their models were recycled from decommissioned Soviet military tanks?

The Type 166 Schwimmwagen, an amphibious military vehicle used by Nazi Germany in WW2, is my all-time favourite car EVER! A fibreglass VW-based dune buggy is unfortunately the closest I'll ever come to owning one. I believe the shape of the Schwimmwagen had a huge influence in the design of the original Meyers Manx buggy.

Next to a HW Meyers Manx for size comparison
