Another find a while ago is the Corgi fire buggy, even 'Tested by the Corgi Technocrats'
This completes my collection of Corgi Buggies, as displayed in this early Corgi catalogtue  My purple buggy with boat is unfortunately in a play-worn condition. I am also looking for the surfboards on the blue buggy. Any help will be much appreciated

Got this Corgi 'Racing Buggy' in the week. More sand rail than buggy, though.

Are these buggies quite easy to get in the States? I'd love to have one!
THE BEVERAGE DUNE BUGGY
Full function radio control
Can't train your dogs or kids to bring you a beer? (I've tried, they tend to shake it up too much) Maybe you need the Beverage Buggy. Yep, it's a little radio controlled car with two built-in can holders. You'd still have to have someone at the cooler or fridge to load up the drinks but once you leap that hurdle, you can drive those drinks on over to you and a buddy. The wife can't call your RC a useless toy anymore...HAHA
it's a hard-working delivery vehicle.
No need to walk around the party handing out drinks. Just put them in the Beverage Buggy and deliver them by radio control! Inside or outside, you and your friends will love beverage buggy at your next get together.
2 holders for cups, cans or bottles
Sporty blue and white detailing
Chrome finish rims
Front and rear bumper guards
Uses one 9V and four AA batteries *not inlcuded*
Vehicle Dimensions:
7.75" W x 13" L x 6.5" H 1 : 12 scale
Delivers up to two cans or bottles of your favorite drink in your own radio-controlled dune buggy [/quote] |

I suppose a rear-mounted engine should be the decisive factor to answer the question whether a buggy is actually a buggy. I personally collect anything remotely buggy-related that appeals to (my) eyes, like the one below, a lucky find yesterday at a swop meet - the Matchbox Soopa Coopa, circa 1972. Dunno if it qualifies as a Buggy though, but it has an unmistakable flat-four rear-mounted boxer engine, and the angular lines of some VW-based kit cars. Does anyone know if it is based on an actual car?
One of my favourite models doesn't even have a single VW part in it! It is the Bertone buggy, by Corgi:
Some info I found on the web from the actual model:
Quote: The Bertone Shake was built on a SIMCA 1200 S chassis, the same one used for the coupé created by the Turin designer for the French manufacturer.
Bertone's attention had been captured by the "dune buggy" idea, and he decided to try his hand at this type of vehicle, albeit on a different level from the typical "home-made" car. A prototype like this was conditioned by the need to guarantee safety in all driving conditions, due to the fact that the car would often be used off-road, and the SIMCA 1200 S chassis was therefore adapted to include some stylistic elements used in a previous design (the 1969 Runabout).
The Turin designer also devoted the same level attention that had gone into the preparation and adaptation of the structure of the car to cope with difficult conditions, to the finishing touches.
The Bertone Shake was presented at the 1970 Paris Motor Show to widespread acclaim, above all among the younger visitors. |

SWEET! Is that one of the new one's or is it original? I raced RC everything for years, but my first ever car was a Frog. |

Its the re-release, I just wanted it since I never had one as a kid, and always wanted one. Its cool but if you want to actually play with it, buy something else. The new RC cars are so much better technology!! |
