I dont see the point of the first design, my locking latch has the tumbler in the button, why is this one on the side?

I have no idea, i do know that it is a hard to find part, i have asked some of the "old timers" and none have ever seen it before

i have never seen a factory set of coil-over rear shocks, but they are in the microfiche, so they must exist.

baywindow front mesh sun shade is very rare.

love the look of the lock. not so sure about it's effectiveness tho' since it's still only mounted with 1 screw.

maybe only available in afghanistan.

They use speed and time in road rallies. Have you ever heard of the "Great Race"?

will-g Fri Mar 24, 2006 8:23 pm

It was for commercial vehicles....it let business track how many kilometers there vans were driven and at what speed. it also allowed authorities to see if the vehicle was driven on sundays as commercial vehicles could not be driven on sundays or something like that...

oh, thanks. I didn't know that.

-Somewhere online I found a vw accessory scan from 71 I think and can't find it now. Anyone know where that is?

MedicTed Fri Mar 24, 2006 8:27 pm

Me either, mine was a guess.

My single cab came with some kind of dealer installed crotch coolers...in the metal plates where the ambulance fans usually go, its an outlet for fresh air on hot days. I posted pictures a while ago...they work incredible!

I would think that the Heater timer would be considered a "rare" parts as i have not seen many, correct me if im wrong...

IFBwax Fri Mar 24, 2006 9:47 pm

Anybody have a picture of an original vw tach in a bus? There was such a thing wasn't there?

steponmebbbboom Fri Mar 24, 2006 9:55 pm

Colin has a real nice one, nicest one Ive seen by far, but he silkscreened the gauge face himself, it is a one-off.

will-g Fri Mar 24, 2006 9:58 pm

The answer to that question is no, there was not a tachograph offered for Baywindows, however many have been made "to fit"

Other Rare Baywindow dash gauges are the trip-odometer

and the Gas heater control

(both pictures are from http://www.ratwell.com/technical/Tachograph.html)
