Personally, I don't think so. I think many people see what the Westies are fetching and figure any old camper could get that much.
I don't think so either. Maybe if the brakes were fixed etc. I think people asssume if it needs brakes, it will need lots of other things too.

I did see a VERY nice, low milage velvet green Riviera for sale at a show a few years ago... he wanted $13,500 for it. :shock: Since this was a few years ago when the prices of buses were lower, that was a BIG price for a camper, but it was in very nice condition, looked like it had been garaged all its life. No fade on the paint, no rust, no dents.

It did have the heavy duty air cleaner on it. I've noticed that on a few of these Rivis, MUCH more that usual. Must be cause the dealers were thinking of dirt road camping :P

But does yours have bolt holes in the inner rear fender where an extra large oil bath bracket might have been mounted?

Only if it was ordered from the factory before it was sent to asi--It would be on your M-code plate---M 156----Annie`s has both M 116 --no vents
and M 156--large oil bath filter----------Whitewalls has no vents but nothing on his M-codes---but has M166-large oil bath filter stamped on his----maybe they forgot to stamp M116 on his m-plate

Nope. And my M-Codes only include 043, 080, and 425.

Nope. And my M-Codes only include 043, 080, and 425.

The larger oil-bath filter is code M156. Mine has one.

My 67 walkthrough panel based Riviera camper does not have the heavy duty air cleaner option.

Camping in the PNW means driving up unpaved logging roads, right? That means dust. (or mud hah hah) So it makes sense for it to be something they added to campers, as an option, for a small nominal fee :wink:

Those of us in the Great White North! My Riv didn't come with a gas heater though. It's parked now till the great white north is green once more.

Mine has no vents but its because its a walkthrough.

Is 156 a common code among non-campers in the PNW?

Hey guys, Kong made it to Bulli and Bug Jam last weekend. It was awesome. Awesomely disastrous and some of the regular kind of awesome too ;)

Anyway, i found this in the parkinglot of Bug Jam. Got any ideas? It looks like a 66 Rivi to me but whats up with the pop top and no bay window?

Not all riviera's had the big side window, a few had that style.

I think the top is Danbury, a pop top that pops straight up, if it had hinges I'd suggest it was a dormolbile top.

My first thought was dormobile top too, but ive had dorms and this wasnt one. I never saw any hinges so im guessing it pops straight up too. You may be right. Ive never heard of Danbury before.

Notice also, its a bench panel without the vents? Interesting bus for sure. I lurked around it peeking in for a while but the owne never appeared ;)

I think it's a '65 because of the paneling for the interior. Also, it has three windows on the driver's side, not one long window. It looks like ASI changed the wood paneling and switched to the long window in '66, though that is just a working hypothesis.

Sportsmobile made tops like that, though I have only seen bay window sportsmobile conversions in the past. I have heard that one could get a riv with a pop top but I thought they were smaller like the westy style.
