Anybody remember Funny Car Summer?

By the way, the 55 in Two Lane Blacktop is the same 55 from American Grafitti (sp).

Come on, guys. "Spinout" with Elvis Presley. How can you leave out The King?
Oh, and "Speedway" and "Viva Las Vegas". 'bout forgot those two.

Pure swill. I talked to my dad about Grand Prix- he saw it in Cinemascope during its original release and quite impressed.
Any more to add?
Pick up the sound track from Grand Prix.
Put it a bit of Castrol "R" in a sauce pan on the low range burner while listening. The sounds. The smell. Nirvana.

I tried getting some Castrol R a few months ago. It's only sold in England now! We can't get it any more.

Gee iowegian, you're showing your age just knowing what Castrol R is!
I used to put a few drops in the gas tank of the lawn mower. It made the job so much more enjoyable!

Back to racing films...
The Speed Merchants

Not racing, but still great
The original Gone in 60 Seconds
The Junk Man
The original Italian Job

"Two-lane Blacktop" from 1971. Very interesting film about a road race to Washington DC between a '55 Chevy and a GTO.

I can't find this damn movie anywhere :x its the real deal too. The '55 used was a real high 10s gasser.

That same 55 is the car driven by Harrison Ford in American Graffiti.

A goggle search should put you in touch with someplace to buy a copy. It's on E-bay a lot, but goes for big bucks.

Who can remember the "Mammoth Car"? The Mark V, or the story line of Racer X... Animated, but Speed Racer was the bomb if you grew up watching it!

Then you missed being able to count how many times Dennis Wilson changed jets in the '55.

I've watched that mega-chase scene a dozen times, but I just can't NOT watch it when I see it in the schedule. The hairstyles and clothes are a hoot, too! :D

Although not a classic movie, but it is set in the time period.
