Not sure if this counts but modified a powerwheels (one of those trucks a four year old drives around in) for RC a long while ago. Don't have pictures, though.
Build RC planes and boats once in a while.

Very nice work, looks great.

Just a thought - you may want to consider painting some patina on those wheels.
They look a bit out of place all shiny.

ACtyp3 Tue Jan 15, 2008 2:58 pm

Thanks for the complement. I ran out of paint before I finished interior and wheels.

I had that one too! I got it in Singapore and beat the crap out of it. It did flips, went through streams and off high jumps and never stopped running like a champ. Unfortunately I had to leave it behind when we moved back to the States. :(

Great memories! :D

F350 High Lift

Man, if you didn't tell me that was an RC, I would've thought it was the real thing. :D

Nice work.

Not knowing anything about the hobby, I'm curious - about how much should I expect to pay for an example like that if I wanted to get into the hobby?

_monkey_ Wed Jan 16, 2008 7:44 am

For a complete kit, you should set aside about $500 for a decent gas engine model.

j-sou Wed Jan 16, 2008 11:38 am

I got about 12-15 hobby grade RC cars, and a gang of store bought ones.

norcalmike Wed Jan 16, 2008 12:05 pm

That F-350 High lift is an expensive model. it really high tech with a 3 speed trans. just the model kit alone goes for over 600 bucks

_monkey_ Wed Jan 16, 2008 12:16 pm

Is that as fast as one of the liquid-fueled models?

Erik G Wed Jan 16, 2008 12:40 pm

the mini cooper is a great kit to start out with, i bought one for under 2 bills, and you can swap bodies out to a split bus or a bug.
