He said no Resto-Cal's
Throwing a set of BRM's does not make your bug a Cal-look;especially with chrome eyebrows!
Show us the IDA's

Nothing... just not part of the "California Look".

Alan Willis Fri Feb 29, 2008 10:59 am

True Cal-look is dechromed, only lowered in the front,T-bars or blades vs. full bumpers, sparse interiors, and usually an IDA engine capable of making 12 second passes.
Basically, looks tame in the rearview till it easily passes you
BTW,Glenn by todays standards, your bug could be considered Cal-look 8)
There were a few guys in DKP II that had later models like yours that looked every bit as correct as the early Beetles.

Not true... Many of the DKP cars still have the chrome trim.

Dave Mason's car.

Jim Kaforski's car

No,its true. DKP III members follow the modern version, which is to leave the chrome on. If you look at original members, like Sarge's '67 you can see the difference.
Yes they are listed as Cal-look,as they have the requirements, but the look has changed quite a bit over the last few decades to the point where almost everybody claimes there car is 'Cal-Look'

Glenn Fri Feb 29, 2008 11:18 am

Here's Steve Beecher's split. He's owned it since 74.

Aw yeah! Thats just what I was thinking when I saw it...WOW  that is badass

Alan Willis Fri Feb 29, 2008 11:21 am

Yes,he went by the original listing for a Cal-Look beetle back in 1975.
I'm not saying the ones portrayed today don't have the same similarities, but they are different from what the original rules are.
Just like DKP is listed as Cal-look,and GF are listed as Resto-Cal,although some GF guys run IDA's and some DKP guys don't.
