Sounds like you're looking for a 26X10.00R15LT

When I used to run wide tires on the front of my Baja Bug the tie rods couldn't stand the strain. If I bumped a curb I'd have to kick the tire back into "alignment" before I could drive home and fix it. Are you using something besides the standard issue tie rods when you run big meaty tires like that up front? |

Thanks Jay, but I may be looking at ones a bit wider..Mickey Thompson makes 26"h x 12.5"w x15rim..but they are pricey. Anyone have any cheaper alternatives but just as tall and wide?
gr8cobbler right now I have CMS 15x7s up front with 225/60/15 with no probs and stock bug tie rod ends and steering box. I am planning go wider up front with like 245/50/15 if I can. I wetsanded the wheels with 1200 grit but I need to get a new set of polishing pads to get the rears to shine up more. I also used Mothers Alum & Mag polish which is real good studff. Hey Joescoolcustoms, I also have a nice pair of 15x4.5 4 lug slots with tires on them, and another pair of 15x5.5 with no tires on them that eventually I will sell as as set. Thanks |

Looks like you've been busy. Love the slots. Be sure to post pictures when you get them on your buggy. |

A word of caution. The pic of the Sportsman's you posted are bias ply. It's advised not to run both bias and radial tires on any vehicle. I don't know what you're running for the fronts, but if they are radials, you may want to go with the Sportsman SR (radial). I'll PM you info on tire prices.

Thx Chuck for the help and advice..yea I've been busy..so far I have also buffed and polished all 4 of my Riviera wheels on my bug with that Mothers stuff works which works great to shine them too. Guys don't be afraid to wetsand your wheels with 400-1500grit sandpaper. It will do wonders on your dulled aluminum wheels. I'll have to post pics of them. Then I have a pair of 2 Empi 8 spokers that I shined up pretty nice too. I have been rollin' dulled wheels for so long up until I discovered the Mothers polish. Next I need to hit my CMS wheels with the polish. But yea once I get the drums and tires I need for the 10" slots and get them mounted I'll post pics of them on the Imp. What I like about the 10" slots is they have only 3.5" backspacing so there will be no clearance issues and they'll look nice and deep. Jay yea I realized the M/Ts are bias ply and thought that I may go with bias plys in the front also for that oldschool look. But if I can find cheaper alternative radials to the M/Ts then I may go with them rear and front, thx. |

325/50/15 nice and wide looks good. and you can run bias out back and radials up front, its been done for years the main thing to remember when doing this is to know your car and how it handles with this set up.
keep on buggin

I've always like those. I have a pair of 15x10 uni-lig I was going to use on my 70 Firebird, but they're true magnesium and I'd like to get matching fronts. I have 2 6" wide 14" alum for the fronts. |

Since we're talkin slotty around here, I'm curious as to how rare a nice pair of 15x10 wide 5's are... I ask 'cuz @ the same time I snagged my vokaro, I also pulled these out of the field. |

Tom are your rears 4 lug or 5 lug?
Here's another Deserter GT with some fatties in the back..you know I never used to like slotted wheels but they really grew on me.

The actual ruling is not to mix construction types on the same axle.
Bowtie is right. Bias on the rear gives better traction while radials on the front gives better handling than the other way around.
I used this setup on my Phoenix with excellent results.

I once, in high school, ran radials on the rear and bias on the front. HOLY COW! That bug handled like crap!
When I ran the other way around, bias out back, radials up front, it was a blast to drive. I could take the stock 1600 and just power slide through the corners. |

Hi Empi,
My fronts are 13" x 8" four lug. The rears are 15"x10" five lugs. The rear drums have been redrilled - no adapters.

295/50/15 are 26.6 tall on 10" and 26" tall on 12". I have them (12") on my Coyote and they are FAT!

Try here.

Yokohama makes a 345/35/15 but they are hard to get. Tire Rack can get them.
