Ummm, it's a Citroen.... duh!
A DS to be specific.
The camper is a Canadian brand made locally, I won't reveal the brand and spoil the game.
Thanks Busdaddy, I don't know much about Citroens other than they look odd, and this one looked really odd.
Does anyone have an answer for Busdaddy's question:
"What's the name of the the camper top brand on the Bus in the background"? |

KTPhil wrote: Yep, we had a '65 Dodge Polara wagon. Very roomy inside, but it better be for how huge it was outside. Fold the back seat down, and a 4x8 sheet of plywood fit on the deck between the inner wheel wells, and you could close the tailgate; a combo sedan/pickup truck! Look at the rear doors... no wheel cutout. Four rectangular doors. Legroom for miles. Fit six adults easily.
It had a special 383... it had the triple 2-barrel setup that only a few preproduction cars got. Easy 85 mph cruise on the freeway, and power to spare. About 8 mpg.
Built like a tank; an early '60s Chevy II hit the rear fender. Broke it's grille and radiator, and had to be towed. The H.M.S. Dodge was still driveable, and a (big) hammer and dolly plus small respray put it all back to normal.
Surprise: with all that glass and square styling, it was a breeze to parallel park!
Very familiar with '65 Dodge wagons, at least the two Custom 880s I had, the more deluxe Polara with wood sides. Pictured here is a 413 car, power everything, tilt, AC....what a car, I towed a lot of Buses and VWs with it. Towing Jiffy Bus here in 2001. |

After a couple days it seems no one has any initiative so I'll leave this here: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/search.php?searc..._chars=200 |

Before I check the link, I had been puzzling over this since you posted the question. I don't recall hearing of a Canadian company that built VW campers. |

There was a few, the Dorper pictured (and linked) was one, there was also a Hannover (sp?) from Surrey BC, and a couple more from back East I can't recall right now.
Everyone was jumping on the van conversion bandwagen back then, Westfalias were expensive and sometimes hard to get, commercial van's were cheap and easy to slap some particle board cabinets and a locally made fiberglass top on, ka-ching! |

That is exactly how Riviera, Sundial, EZ-Camper, etc. were born, too. Fulfil a need and make a dollar. The Dorper was a completely new name to me, never even heard of it. Always cool to learn new things no matter how frivolous it may seem. |

I have heard or "read" the name but never seen a picture of one. Cool!

Spotted this kit car the other day on the way to an appointment driving my EV.
The main body of the car was identified as an early 80's Ford Thunderbird.
What's the kit called?
Sorry for the crappy "while driving pics. |

Not to be confused with the Ford concept car called “The ‘49er”. Saw it at the NY Auto Show circa 2001. Back when everything retro was coming out of the studios. |

A guy in one of the local car clubs has one. IMO, it looks good straight on from the front but from every other angle, not so much. |

Per Busdaddy's excellent suggestion, I am diverting a photo and discussion here where it belongs, taking it form the "Beetle - Split-Window/1938-53 VWs" "Cool Vintage Photos..." thread, so as to not clog that topic.
Here is a photo, and I asked if folks can identify all of them. Seeing VWs, as well as other makes Dr. Porsche had a hand in (including tractors), I had hoped that was the unifying theme, but alas, not so. But for interest, can we figure out what all these vehicles are?:

Can't identify the car behind the Blitz, but maybe it's an Opel Kadett or Olympia.

Looks like the same M-B model at the 2nd rightmost on the 2nd row.
finster is very good at identifying European vehicles from the '50's so he'll probably respond soon. |
