Things are moving along for September. Got about everything for the bus lined up and will start getting it ready in the next week or two.
Engine 1 is ready and I just got the case back for engine 2 all clearenced and machined for assembly.
Heads are finely in the works so things are looking up for this.
Trans is built and being tested (gearing) so looks like I'm a go this year, after 2 years or more of getting things moving along.
I started another thread looking for a hi res pic of the 36 hp land speed challenge to use as back round pic for when I get my bus wrapped. |

Porsche 82.5 pistons and liners being test fit. Tomorrow will install studs and do the deck height thing with the domed pistons and the Okrassa heads.
Worked out perfect with the 74 stroke, 5.325 chevy journal rods
Going for 8.5 to 9.1 compression, Only a few weeks till it's time.
60 SC comes in the shop tomorrow for new trans, dropped spindles and hopefully get the small engine in for some hot laps by this weekend.
Hope to have the 1582 ready also for the 36 hp challange, now waiting on manifolds and ratio rocker shafts |

74 stroke chevy journal 36 hp crank, built by DPR. Here's a pic of the rotating assembly being balance. Crank with DPR 200 mm flywheel small end was out 1 gram, flywheel side was out 28. Got the big end to 0 and the small end to 1 gram, added the CB aluminum pull and the pulley nut and it went to 0. We then added the 200 mm late model German pressure plate with a early t/o bearing ring from F and S clutches and the big end went out 44 grams. We got everything to 0.
Rods and pistons are also all balanced to 0.
Heads are at OLLIES to get opened up a little more for the 82.5 Porsche 356 cylinders and to get the bottom machined so they will sit flush on the cylinders.
It was either machine a fin off the cylinder or shave the head a little, so we decided on the head.
Geoff hart Performance got 35.5 mm intake seats in and 33mm exhuast seats
installed and am ordering custom made valves Monday,
Should have the heads together in the next week or so and the short block done this weekend.
Everything is moving along, new geared trans in bus, lowered spindles on, working on the fuel delivery now. Hope to have an engine in tomorrow for some road testing.

The truck now has flipped spindles, stock width beam and a straight axle trans
I do not believe a bus on RGB's is safe to drive over 75/80 mph (been there, done that) and in my quest to break 100 mph, for safety reasons I lowered it. I have been over a 100 in a lowered bus with a big 1600 based engine and just want to see if I can do it with a 36hp based engine.
I have the same geared trans in my 60 SS kombi with a stock duel port 1600 and can do 65 mph in 3rd gear with room to go faster and had it over 80 in 4th. Thats with approx 52 hp. My stock bore/stroke WW Okrassa 36 make over 70 hp and the one I'm building now I hope to make at least 90hp. |

You'll miss the bus Britt, it's going to Vegas in the morning to get wrapped.
Got the stoke bore/stroke WW Okrassa engine in the SC for some testing.
Set the shift light at 5k but ran it up to 5500 in 1st and 2nd gears, need some flat to see how it will pull in 3rd and 4th.
Need to rework the velocity stacks as they only has a finger between the top and the bed, one of the stock air cleaners hits the bed crossmember, I'll have it all worked out by the time the bus gets back from Vegas.
Still need to put a breather box in for the vented valve covers (Fasters ZEUS VC's).
Can't wait till September. The stroker engine is starting to come together.
Got the Okrassa to IDA manifolds on the way, heads are being finished, valves are being made, short block will be reassembled by the weekend .Together and apart 3 times already for test fitting. |

Bus is back from the grafx guys. still waiting on my wheels so I had the tires I'm going to use mounted on some steel BBT sprint stars to do some test runs with and get the alignment done. Bumpers also will be mointed tomorrow.
Just need to install some 4 point seat belts (going to put some mounting plates in for them) and a little tweeking and it will be ready to go.
Now if I can only get the other engine done in time ](*,)

Thank-you Brad, it couldn't have been done with-out all the help and support of all the companies who's logos are on it, a lot of my friends and my wife (who thinks I've gone over the deep end) but she did approve on the look of the bus! |

| I love your truck. Have you thought about aerodynamics? Pickups seem to benefit from a toneau (sp?) cover over the bed. Some trucks like the rear 2/3 covered with some magic 1/3 open area right behind the cab. It's all quite mystical, but might a fun experiment. I've been following your posts, and am looking forward to seeing you run next month. |
