no i couldn't. (not trying to be a smartass...)
i still have two more of these as extras. had them in the classifieds for a year @ $25 (my cost for material and tooling). no takers.
Illl buy one if you still have it...
And I'll take the other one, if it hasn't been sucked up by followers of this thread. I stay away from the classifieds - too much tempting stuff to buy, and I'm weak.
Please PM me if any are still available! |

what the frak?!? had them in the classifieds for so long...and now both of them are spoken for. if they weren't too much of a pain in the ass to make, i'd machine a few more.
...sorry.

Wow! Your metal working skills are truelly amazing. Cant believe your doing this as just a hobby. :D
I been doing my 58, with similar rusted areas for about 5 years now, and I'm sad to say whilst OK, my repair work is no where near up to this standard.
Respect to you. :)

Thats some funny sheisse right there. I almost don't want to see you fix the torn hood because then I will learn I rushed the job :)
Seriously though I was just thinking how great this is all going to look in Coral Red. Solid work my man. |

no worries...i won't tackle the hood just yet. i want to get the rear apron finished first. then i'll sandblast everything to see if anything else pops up.
after the shell is done, then i plan on fixing the hood, deck lid and doors. they will need to fit the solid shell, not the other way around.
the past few weeks i have been mixing paint (not coral red)...more to come.
also, thanks again for the compliments! |

Cool. With all of this work I'd say you deserve to paint it any color you like. I think this build fills our LT void. Thanks! |

oops...don't worry, the car will be coral red.
i decided to take a break from rust repair and paint a few things. so, what i meant was that i've been trying to match L75 for the interior parts. it's been a royal pain in the ass. when i post my findings, you'll see why. |

Lovely colour. :D
Any ideas what paint type you'll use? |

yep...pretty sure i'll use basf's single stage urethane, UNO-HD.
i used it for the gas tank restoration. easy to apply...wet sands and buffs to a nice shine.
also, basf's german! :) ...they make the glasurit lines of paint which is their high-end two-stage paint systems (except for the 22-series, which, as i understand, is difficult...or getting difficult...to find???)
i wanted to keep a stock appearance on the car, so single stage is the way to go. also, i don't have to spend $$$ on clear! i was initially interested in glasurit, but my local jobber said they only have the two-stage stuff. the UNO-HD is the single stage.
my father dealt with this jobber since i was a kid. there's a couple of old skool dudes in there who are willing to take the time to match paint...which is getting more and more rare these days...
i have to drive clear across town, but it's worth it. the jobbers i deal with closer to the shop/work are younger guys who don't know how to mix paint and aren't willing to deviate from what the computer tells them to mix.
...gotta be careful...this will turn into a rant about the youth of today and their ineptitude. (except for "DieSchnelleKafer"...that little turd is doing okay...) |
