| It looks like they are! I just saw a featured ad for them 2 days ago. They are under Kevin's ads. I wonder if we can get a discount for ordering the pair? |

Lexan MR10 (Lexan Margard, coated Polycarbonate)
"Polycarbonate has an impact strength ten times greater than that of automotive glass. Endorsed by sanctioning bodies - Many organizations have endorsed the use of lexan mr10 polycarbonate windows for racing applications, and have made them a standard. The most valuable benefit of lexan mr10 is the enormous weight savings from factory glass, in standard applications polycarbonate can weigh 50 - 70 pounds less for a full set of windows."
PopDisplays, (MR10 distributor)
"Lexan* MR10 sheets improved Margard® II coating resists abrasion and defies graffiti to ensure a “like-new” appearance for many years to come. The next generation of UV absorbers, Margard® coating now incorporates enhanced UV absorbers to protect the sheet from the debilitating effects of sunlight. Virtually unbreakable. High light transmission common to all Lexan* sheet products. Easily maintained without marring, hazing, or yellowing. Compiles with major model building codes. Recommended by GE for use in residential vertical glazing applications. The ideal glazing for high traffic and high impact areas such as: educational institutions, psychiatric hospitals, storefronts and windows, low-level physical attack areas, entrance doors and patios, hurricane protection, railings and sound barriers. Will withstand -40° to 180° continuous and 220°F short term with no load."
USplastics.com
"Lexan Margard sheets have maximum toughness, with mar resistance approaching that of glass, and significantly improved resistance to weathering. MR-10 sheet provides extended service life. It has excellent clarity and durability, it is lightweight, and is superior glazing material for institutions, office buildings, stores, and more. It will withstand -40deg F to 270 deg F. Has a silicone hardcoat surface. It is non-formable and UV resistant. LEXAN MR10 sheet is mar- and graffiti-resistant. It combines the impact strength of LEXAN polycarbonate sheet with a proprietary abrasion and UV-resistant MARGARD® II surface. It is warranted against yellowing, breakage, coating failure and loss of light transmission and offers improved resistance to weathering and forced entry protection. It is useful for schools, store, transit shelters and other high-traffic areas."

^ MR10 Margard Lexan, NOT standard lexan.
^ Easy to cut and shape.
^Extremely light, extremely strong. Both Type 2 front windshield pieces at roughly 7 lbs.
^ Complete Safari windows & hardware....roughly 25-28lbs.
^ After testing nearly every plastic spray on the market (some paints not shown), surprisingly Rust-Oleum Plastic flat black was the best by far for creating a extremely strong holding black trim. Do NOT sand or primer.
^ Prep. Always use quality 3M tape.
^ Several hours go into one window. Take your time cutting, shaping and painting. Practice on a junk piece of Lexan first. Be prepared to screw up. 3M Blue line tape used.
^ Rust-Oleum will come out beautiful if done right (some glare in pic). Trim can be painted on the inside or outside of the Lexan window, your choice.
^ Installation methods can vary. Can be used in daily driving if needed. (Illegal pretty much everywhere on public roads. Near impossible to tell it's not glass unless tapped by hand).
^ MR10 weighs in at about 1.5-2 lbs as a side window.
^ Complete pop out w/latch, 6-7 lbs.
^ Installation methods can vary.

Factory Lexan onto new Cayman...
"According to the Planet 9 Forums, the new Cayman Club Sport will make its world Debut at the 2011 LA Auto Show. The specs are similar to the currently available Boxster Spyder. Weight will be reduced by anywhere between 164 and 184 pounds thanks to tricks like lexan windows, aluminum panels, optional stereo and air conditioning and the awesome fabric door pulls. This isn’t just a Cayman on a diet either, the engine will be pushing out 333 horsepower and the suspension will be stiffer and lowered. Those looking to track the car can order a Track package which includes a roll cage, racing harnesses and a fire extinguisher."

Felt like i had to make my first contribution to this thread..
I´ve done pretty much everything to lighten my panel-65 and i´m now down on 1027 kilos with a full tank. Doesn´t sound like a big task, but the thing is the Panel is powered by a Porsche six including a 915 5-speed gearbox, 911 rear suspension AND has a full cage welded inside..Made all of the windows out of this same 4mm Margard lexan which helped to save a lot, but remember that they scratch very easily which is bad when driving in the sun.. |

I've used Lexan in place of windshields before (frame was so out of shape, glass wouldn't fit). Never again. In just a few months, I always felt like I couldn't get them clean enough, it was unsafe. Maybe technology has improved enough in the past 7 years, but I'd have to see it to believe it. |

"Comedian JERRY SEINFELD has picked an unusual way to mark his 50th birthday - he's driving across America in an old van with his childhood pals to eat at their favourite New York diner. The former SEINFELD star, who celebrated his big day on 29 April (04), will hit the road with CHRIS MISIANO - who serves as one of the directors on THE WEST WING - and Oregon doctor CLIFF SINGER, both pals from his native New York. He says, "We are going to get in a '65 VW bus in Santa Monica, California, and we're going to drive it to the MASSAPEQUA DINER in Long Island. "There's only one change I did make to (the van). It's all original except I put a PORSCHE engine in it. So if you see a bus like this going a lot faster than it seems like it should be able to go, that will be us!" Seinfeld and his pals plan to set off on their journey on Monday (17MAY04)."

Awesome!
This one is mine... well it don´t has a Porsche neither a Subaru’s engine but it develops incredible 110cv on a VW AE 1,6 water-cooled engine. In a near future I will install a supercharger to increase its breath.
