^ MR10 Margard Lexan, NOT standard lexan.

^ Easy to cut and shape.

^Extremely light, extremely strong. Both Type 2 front windshield pieces at roughly 7 lbs.

^ Complete Safari windows & hardware....roughly 25-28lbs.

^ After testing nearly every plastic spray on the market (some paints not shown), surprisingly Rust-Oleum Plastic flat black was the best by far for creating a extremely strong holding black trim. Do NOT sand or primer.

^ Prep. Always use quality 3M tape.

^ Several hours go into one window. Take your time cutting, shaping and painting. Practice on a junk piece of Lexan first. Be prepared to screw up. 3M Blue line tape used.

^ Rust-Oleum will come out beautiful if done right (some glare in pic). Trim can be painted on the inside or outside of the Lexan window, your choice.

Felt like i had to make my first contribution to this thread..
I´ve done pretty much everything to lighten my panel-65 and i´m now down on 1027 kilos with a full tank. Doesn´t sound like a big task,but the thing is the Panel is powered by a Porsche six including a 915 5-speed gearbox, 911 rear suspension AND has a full cage welded inside..Made all of the windows out of this same 4mm Margard lexan which helped to save a lot, but remember that they scratch very easily which is bad when driving in the sun..

Make sure you research what to clean lexan with-

It does scratch VERY easily.

I've used Lexan in place of windshields before (frame was so out of shape, glass wouldn't fit). Never again. In just a few months, I always felt like I couldn't get them clean enough, it was unsafe. Maybe technology has improved enough in the past 7 years, but I'd have to see it to believe it.

This one is mine... well it don´t has a Porsche neither a Subaru’s engine but it develops incredible 110cv on a VW AE 1,6 water-cooled engine. In a near future I will install a supercharger to increase its breath.

wow my slammed panel with me in it hit the weigh station scale at 2400 pounds, course mines only got a 1600 SP and straight axle :lol:
