My vote then is to include Syncrodoka on an overnight on Feb 5 instead of jan 29. He is a valuable Los Burritos member.
And thanks for the photos. I want to go back to that amazing Syncro spot on the cliff. |

put me down as going, if you don't mind me being in a Ford Ranger 4x4. I can be the token black sheep of the van camping family!
Have jury duty starting 1/31
Have started pulling the engine in the van. this last trip to BBB had the engine losing power way too much, in addition to having 5 psi at idle (with straight 50 weight oil) and big oil leak |

so glad you can make it Bill, I dont care what you drive. Also glad to hear Texxxx, tdwesty, blakeck2, and syncrodoka are all available too. See you there!
I look forward to meeting at the base of Los Burros Road on Saturday morning, February 5th at 11am..
For anyone wanting to GPS to that location, look for
Treebones Resort, at
71895 Highway 1
Big Sur, CA 93920
the gps coordinates are 35*53'09"N, 121*27'32"W
I would be leaving from Paulas, 3600 Portola Drive in Capitola by 8:30am.. if anyone wants to join me for breakfast at 8.. see you there..
I would then be passing Monastery beach at 9:30am.. if I see any vans there, I will stop to meet up and caravan.. |

Because of the distance, for people coming from the bay area, I suggest a couple overnight options to break up the trip
1. You can sleep in front of my house in Santa Cruz on Friday night, message me privately
2. You can go to Big Sur on Friday and spend the night on Los Burros Road. There is free camping within the first mile up the road, obvious pull out spots.. Same is true of Nacimiento Fergusson Road.
3. You can go to Esalen at 1am for a 2 hour hot tub, then sleep in their upper parking lot..
I say all this because the event meeting time is 11am Saturday Feb 5, and I have to leave Santa Cruz at 8:30am to make it, so I know Bay area people would have to leave by 7am or earlier..
I know there has been interest in the past meetings, among some participants, to actually arrive on Friday and overnight before the get together.. It is certainly an option..
My concern for folks coming from the Bay area, is you will be spending 4 hours getting to the event meetup, which will involve driving for many more hours on the trail.. I hope you arrive rested :-) |

I have the friday off before the meetup. I can definately meet people at the trailhead and drive with them into a camp.
I will probably be there on friday night anyways. :) |

I suggest people bring, if you have, walkie talkies on channel 4
it may help locate each other for those in the area on Friday night.. |

Looking forward to seeing you all this weekend.
Big Sur weather will be sunny, no rain.. should be perfect!
As of today, the Nacimiento roadblock at Fort Hunter Liggett is OPEN, if anyone wants to come in from King City side..
call the King City Forest Service to confirm (the road closes at Hunter Liggett if there is heavy rain)

| If you come through Hunter Liggett, make sure you have all car and personal documents up to date, or they will not let you cross federal land |

With the rain from the past weekend the dust on the trails will be minimal and the vans will get a little chance to get some trail mud :). Expected high of 70 degrees and it will be beautiful.
Los Padres has a new free campfire permit that you just print out and fill in and carry with you. http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprdb5251460.pdf
If anybody is looking to show up on friday let me know and I can let you know where I will be or I can meet you. I will probably be going in on thurs night. See you all there.
It sounds like there may be a few syncro trucks going so I will be stoked. |
