heh...it does look like a 23, but no. It's an old Ford Commercial Bus. Like a greyhound type. It was converted into a camper back in the day. There was another bus on this location which sooner or later I will go back for. It's a parts rig, but most defenitely worth the time to dig out. And by dig, I mean dig.

Congrats!

Is that a genuine white wall tire which stood the test of time?

JoelH Sat Apr 30, 2011 10:39 am

you know it! BG goodrich all the way. it wasn't full of air, but it does look pretty cool.

:D Very cool!! Proof positive they are still out there. Nothing beats the emotions when first finding it and striking the deal. You will never forget this one! I remember finding my Pillenstein bus as if it were yesterday. Very cool find! Congrats!!!

JoelH, I've been following your posts since you started, although I am sorry the PO found this site as your wallet took a real beating I'm sure. Hang in there and if you must sell other VW stuff not your Barndoor  Your persistence really paid off. When the kids are ready for college then sell

X2 Everett.......LOCK DOWN SECTOR 7

I hate it when I ask people what they want for something and they say, "well, on the Samba it sells for..."

whatever I guess. He got what he thought was fair in the end, and I'm broke temporarily, so it's all good. :)

JoelH Sun May 01, 2011 6:12 am

yeah it's ok. I got a hell of a deal on it no matter what. Just gotta build up the funds again. I won't be on welfare due to this....:)

Thanks for taggin' along and watching. when I get more time, I'm going to post up some more pictures, so stay tuned!

I was looking at some pictures just now and realized that the cab divider panel was laying on the metal above the engine with all the broken glass from the rear window.....sure enough, I went out there and there it was! It's pretty warped and what not. The glass and metal on it is good though. Anyone make their own? if so, what sort of material did you use?

also, the VIN is 20-103233 just in case someone wanted to know.

Is there any way to find out where this came into the country at? I don't think there are M-codes on the buses this early right?

EverettB Sun May 01, 2011 7:19 pm

I've made panels with a Masonite sheet from Home Depot.
Probably not 100% "correct" though.

The only way to find out the original destination and the M-codes is to order the Birth Certificate.

considering that backing plate was in the mud for 20+ years....yeah, it is incredible. The soil around this place I guess is not too acidic the guy said, so I'm sure that helped out a lot.

Just send me the whole bus. I'll get it back to you in 20 years, give or take.

yes you're right. That will defenitely find a home. maybe in my '60 panel though.....It gets lonely without a radio!

Corey,

A friend of mine left for Fargo today. He offered me a ride, but it was poor timing. Hoping to be there in July for a wedding in DL. Gotta see that bus.
