All 5 :)

JoelH Mon May 02, 2011 11:29 am

I'm literally missing only the correct taillights, the rear bumper, and the correct cargo door handle. Everything else is present...

Nice one. If you end up selling this barndoor, please keep it in country. I'd really hate to see another good one go on a globe trotting flipping spree.

wwly74 Mon May 02, 2011 6:40 pm

if you ever consider selling it, please contact me [email protected] my brother lives in Hardin MT and I could easily have him pick it up for me:) Obviously really wishful thinking. Hope you get to restore/or just get in running and drive it forever. Love all the pics!

congrats brother, this is beyond amazing, I'm shocked to hear this bus just sat there in a field and you're only missing a few pieces. Enjoy it my man.

This bus looks amazing. Congratulations! I can't wait to see it as it progresses. 8)

Did your brother happen to own that beautiful early red Ghia that came out of Hardin about ten years ago?

Amazing find :bus_blue:

For Shits and Giggles, what was your initial offer to the guy?

JoelH Tue May 03, 2011 1:45 pm

I initially offered him $500 for it. I did end up paying more, but I still got a smokin' deal

JoelH Tue May 03, 2011 1:48 pm

I figured out a little more of the logo too. It says Fargo, North Dakota underneath everything, so now the search is on. I gotta find a 1955-1960 Fargo Phone book and see what this company was all about. Hell, maybe I can find some old ads where the bus is in pictures of them or something.

cdennisg Tue May 03, 2011 4:55 pm

Go to the library for an old phone book. Find the address, and ask around the area if anyone remembers the business. You may be able to find an old owner or employee who has some history and/or photos. Manny did that with the Coram Rug Works panel. Found some really interesting stuff.

JoelH Tue May 03, 2011 4:57 pm

that's the plan. Hell, there's probably an address on the bus somewhere...:) I'm excited to start wetsanding! I'm thinking about seeing if I can get it down enough to see what's all on it, then take some kick ass pictures of it, repaint the bus, and see if I could pay Fred to redo the logos for me. That'd be poppin' fresh!

cdennisg Tue May 03, 2011 7:08 pm

I have been wanting Fred to do some logos for me for a long time. I have not come up with the "right" design yet. Someday.

Awesome I love OG Logo Buses, and a Barndoor makes it that much sweeter. I'm really glad you live in Fargo too

nice to see more logo busses coming out, i was working on my new 54 single cab on the weekend and noticed extra sign writing i found at least 5 new pieces including an address, and phone number and a vintage dunlop logo

i only new about the top line on one door and i found more on the other door, rear gate and long side as well

realy looking forward to seeing your bus done looks like an easy build

You could probably make some of your investment back selling some of the at bus preserving mud right here in the classifieds.
I can't believe how perfect the threads are on that spindle after being buried for so long.
Have fun with the build.

Awesome find. Panel = win. :)

JoelH Mon May 09, 2011 12:41 pm

Here is the view from the road

Here is a close up from the same location

Driver's side semiphore in pretty good shape

Looking down the driver's side. There is an inward crease. Good thing is the full access from the back to be able to push it out!

The rust on the front nose

I power washed out the inside and outside of it this past weekend. Looks good!

The passenger side inside and outside rockers will need to be replaced also as they are completely rusted out. I tried to figure out more of the logos, but they weren't painted on the original blue. They were painted on a rolled on black paint I believe, so I think what we see is what we see. I'm going to try and find some photos of it at the library by looking through some old newspapers on micro film. If I can't find anything, the logos will probably disappear to never be seen again.

I could sell it by the ton! :) I couldn't believe how rust free that backing plate even was. This thing has been in the mud for a long time. It's just amazing

don't give up on those logos just like that, when we found our panel we made several trips to their local library trying to find anything on the company, we didnt get much, but one of those pieces we found put us on the right path, as far as finding the entire history of the company and original owner the bus belonged to.
