It wouldn't move when doing final welding--at least not enough to explain the top of the column being offset to the left that far.
That's a lot of welding to cut out in a confined space. I would be tempted to shim the box.

Good grief, just noticed that. Wonder why they left it like that??

Because it was never test fitted before welded in place. Bad idea

Iozzio Wed Apr 10, 2013 10:52 pm

WOW! I think it looks so killer!

Maybe some one should send a refund cheque for the steering box raise so it can be fixed and repainted. It's the only fair thing to do.

petevdub Fri Apr 12, 2013 3:47 am

Wow!

How on earth did the steering shaft en up like that? What's the root cause? How was it fixed?

What a colossal fuck up that is.

Rob, that is you in those pics on page two. You worked on this bus. How did that happen?

roberto Fri Apr 12, 2013 4:52 am

Hey Garry, nice to hear from you. I don't know because I don't do bull shit box raises, it not necessary. However i found this on page 2.

[quote="exciter"]Patrick I had several misc local weld jobs I had to do today but before i shut down the shop i decided to get your steeringbox raise done and out of the way so that we can proceed with your lower nose metal replacement! Heres a couple pics for you to check out!!!I went the maximum I could without having to modify your floor any. Should be perfect especially with thos "special" wheels that you will be rolling! :D

kustom! looks killer! 8)

i'm gonna take a wild guess that patrick's next project is stock.

deluxed Sat Apr 13, 2013 5:23 am

I doubt it will be stock, he'll just find someone that knows what there doing when it comes to metal work and double checking stuff before they final
weld it all.

Paul, we're in Ontario, and that show is in British Columbia, a 39 hour drive according to Google Maps. Likely won't see Patrick at that one with his bus.

Hope to have an update on progress this week.

Wonder if it will debit at JJB?

Springfling is a couple before JJB.

Tuned Perfection Tue Apr 16, 2013 8:12 pm

I think he and Gary will simply shim the box to make it straight. If necessary Lanner can custom cut something to make it right.

Patrick was busy assembling the driver and passenger side door windows when I stopped by yesterday. He's lost his spot at the back of the shop and is pretty close to the front door now. I'm sure Gary just wants to see those tail lights going down the laneway at this point....

They got the bumpers on, red insert inserted  and Patrick will get going on the interior very soon. Waiting on the sunroof canvas from Sewfine.....

Looking killer!

It is looking very nice. Should be a blast to drive! Hopefully driving it will help Patrick forget about this whole painful process.
Too bad about that gap on that rear hatch. What a shame. :(

The latch for the rear hatch has not been installed. Patrick hasn't located one as of now. When installed the gap will be fine.

Gary.

Muthashabubu Wed Apr 17, 2013 12:22 am

Glad to hear that! Now I am waiting to see the interior. 8)
What's the time frame on that anyways?

petevdub Wed Apr 17, 2013 2:50 am

Looking super nice!

I should make time to go and see this sled in person soon.

Mr. Oizo Wed Apr 17, 2013 6:18 am
