Thanks Norcal! I have always marched to the beat of my own drum. I love the colors, as you can see by the fact that I did the same colors on two resto's... The important thing the haters need to keep in mind is THE SAVE!!!!
63 SO-33 Westy is not so common...the fact that I saved it from the crusher a mere three days before...should trump the paint job, and the haters.
Ten years in the making...I can't wait to camp! |

it's uncommon, but it give's a mean look to it.
Kinda reminded me a bit of a robber-cowboy look with white hat and mathcing handkerchief

So finally got The Hatch running, stopping, and registered. Drove it from San Diego to Orange County today, average speed 57MPH, it ran like a champ, and I can't believe it's been almost 12 years since I first saw this bus rusting into the ground. Here are a few recent pics:

Turbo_g & jr showed up to check progress in person... so I put them to work!
We had to trim and trim and trim, then trim some more until it fit like it should AND cleared the non-matching bench/bed. Turbo_g junior sat on the driver's seat jonesing to be driving it.
After they left I finished off a couple of little issues. Now it's all one piece!
It took quite a bit of trimming!

My 14 year old son and I installed a new horn, new steering wheel and horn button today. My boy crawled under The Hatch with a wrench in both hands and installed the horn himself. I could not be more proud. He will earn the ability to call this bus his own one day... Oh, and when we got it installed, IT WORKED! Beep-beep!! Just like the roadrunner!
