Merry Christmas and thank you for the props (and thanks to everyone else for the positive feedback). No the color scheme is one I dreamed up myself, it is Wimbledon White and Swift Red. I used to have a 66 Standard with the same color combo and I love it. |

I like the colors
Nice to see a bus painted the way the owner wants
That was the idea of them from the beginning
Merry Christmas
Let's see some more
Thanks

If I didn't ask before, what did you name this one? Flip-Shizz, SO-Shizzty, Strictly Shizz 2, come to mind.
Badass. So Pyro helped dial it all in? |

Barry,
Flip-Shizz is DA BOMB name, should have asked you first! No, just the plain old name "The Hatch". Got a personalized plate on order "63 HATCH". Yes Ivan was very instrumental in getting it road worthy. It's pretty awesome right now.
When will you be camping with the club again? BBB? |

I'm camping right now (in my mind) with you. We just cruised out to Mud Cave in the world's most beautiful paint bus on the world's most paint-hateful road. You're leading the hand-crawl through the pitch-black claustrophobic worm-hole-hell. |

I so remember that trip, I do miss hanging with the San Diego crew, gonna really enjoy ourselves at BBB 2014. Wishing you were going to join us.
Here is The Hatch in full daily driver status...

| Nice work on bringing back the bus from the arms of the crusher. Persistence paid off this time for sure and another Westy was saved. |

this is what i think owning and 'doing up' a bus is all about. Do as much of the work as you can yourself and do it how you want.
This is why i got mine and ive managed to do / make some things that i never thought id be able to.
like a lot of others are saying - theres always going to be haters - let the pricks hate. Its not their bus and you are not building it for them.
Now after my high horse rant i am going to say - i needs a set of wheels! haha |

I was thinking the same thing, 10 years ago everybody passed on this one, I'm glad I decided (against the wishes of my better half) to go rescue it. My 14 year old son is so excited to camp in this bus. I'll be at BBB 2014, if anyone wants to look me up (find the SV2S), there should only be one sub hatch westy in this color scheme, come take a look and say hi, (stand back 10 feet, it looks better from there)! |

My son and I started on the interior bits, made a subfloor, and now are working on insulation before we button up new wood panels.
Here are a couple pics:

| I love that you are enjoying this bus with your family. Ive had my 67 westy since 2002. It was my first car. Now I have a one year old daughter that will get to go camping in it with me. By far my favorite thread on the site. Isnt it incredible the change in buses in ten years? you should see some of the rust buckets out here in the south. |

I really like this resuscitated thread. Very cool to see the bus come back to life.
Like the paint.
Like the camping pics.
Beyond just 'cool' in my opinion. |
