That's good news :) Have you done it yourself or do you know someone that has?
By what I could figure the existing sunroof opening is bigger than the cut out for the Reimo mushroom.
How do you adjust for it to work? Plywood template to create the correct opening? |

I installed one in my tintop, the fabric staples to wood strips that are attached to the perimeter of the opening , that is covered with flexible trim.
the lift struts are bolted through the roof outboard of the hole, they need to accurately placed for smooth lifting.
The roof assembly, the fibreglass part has a generous overhang of a few inches that overlaps everything , the weather seal is at the outer edge of the roof |

Thanks, yes I saw that on this thread, my question is more in relation with my existing factory sunroof.
Before I order the shroom top I want to be sure I can mount it. My understanding is that the factory sunroof is bigger than the cut out for the Reimo top. I wanted to see if anyone had done that adaptation and if there is an easy way around that to make it a clean leak free install regardless. |

If the sunroof dimension from driver side to passenger side is the same as the Reimo cutout dimension, I think you would be okay for fitment. The roof has a lot of overhang front to rear.
I would wonder about the sunroof's internal slide mechanism interfering with the Reimo mounting plates. |

| Ok lets try like that then, anybody that has done one mind posting the cut out dimension and the fiber glass roof dimension as well? |

This winters project...
I want to thank all of the contributors to this post, without their photos and descriptions the installation would have been a lot more difficult.
I am sure the solution i have come up with to resolve the a/c duct question won't satisfy most people but it works for me. Duct can be installed/removed in seconds, allows a/c up front when I want it and gets the duct out of the way when the top is up
I also finally resolved the interior lighting situation. LED rope light around the pop top opening. a separate loop on the rear duct and another up front, all on dimmers

Looks really good.
I like how you did the center ac duct crossover with the perimeter lights 8)
Was that the original batch of Remio tops? I haven't seen them for sale in a while. Also, what did you use to clean the headliner? Looks new. |

Hey Tjet,
Thanks!
I managed to get the top from Drbjorn in Canada. They're not easy to find in North America anymore but he had one in stock and was super accommodating about shipping to the states.
The headliner looks much better in the photos than it really is. |

| What's the roof opening dimensions compared to a regular Westy? Are they nearly the same? |

Shorter a few inches in both dimensions.
The wooden strenghtening frame that goes around sits inside the metal beams and it is about 4cms (~1.5 inches) wide
Found the inszallation manual, the hole is 1040x1100mm

Have one of these installed (mostly) - haven’t stapled in the fabric or done the finishing yet, so the fabric looks a little loose in the pics. I copied and pasted my latest van build post below:
And some Reimo small top progress:
A bit of fitting up is required for the plywood supports; roof structure of the van meant the rear bowed support needed to be cut shorter and at an angle, front only needed slight clearancing. I elected to use some bigger screws than those provided for the corner blocks…
I’m usually working single handed, I used the packing bubble wrap to make getting the top up to the roof a bit easier - slides up the side and easy to position with the slippery wrap under it:
Very happy with this top. I used apple translate to take photos of the instructions and translate from german to english, it’s in a word doc so I can try to figure out how to share it if anyone wants :)
Headroom as measured from the top of the steel floor rib- about 78.5”:

No ac yet, in the middle of an ecotec swap so hope to retrofit an aftermarket or diy dash a/c at some point, leaving the compressor on the motor :)

Hi! I'm not worried about it, I was joking when I said "you can do better"; my meaning was that my van is pretty rough looking in terms of paint! It's looking much better now (it's finally all one colour), so if you want some better photos I can snap them. I'll email you as well, but no harm done!
