This is a January 1959 Dove Blue Kombi Rebuild.

In 2010 I found this bus here in TheSamba classifieds For $300 in Baton Rouge LA.

Pics from Classifieds.

Dragged home to North FL, August 2010.

Picked up metal from KlassicFab November 2010.

Bus sat idle for a few years waiting it turn. Used it for a holloween Prop.

Removed what was left of the cargo floor.

Sand blasted frame and underside and applied two-part epoxy Primer.

Ibeams, cable tubes and shifter tube were not salvageable.

I had these tubes from a 65 standard that was too far gone to be saved.

Blasted and epoxy primed the tubes.

Originally I had planned on using a flipseat I had since the bulkhead was cut out by a PO.
I had a change of plan when I was able to locate a dove blue bulkhead here on TheSamba.

Came across front seat frames here on Thesamba also.

Lower bulkhead panel.

I was informed that there was two different pressings and this is the only one offered forsale.

My son wanted to trade some of his chores to sandblast, I gladly excepted.

Sandblasted and epoxy primered.

Thanks for the support. I need it to get me thru the humid 104 degree temps.

Here is how the dash looked when I got the bus.

I found this doveblue dash searching San Diego, CA Craigslist.
Ad stated "pick-up only" I had to basically beg the dude to ship me the dash.
$70 plus shipping and I got my dash.

Removed and sold hinges to recoup some cost.

Cleaned and primed backside.

You don't need a rotisserie! Go go go...

A rotisserie would be awesome to have. I think a concrete floor would be even better.
