Anyone happen to have both of these on a scale? I can't find the info anywhere. Specifically the 94mm.

I don’t have any specific weights on hand but I’ve cut valve reliefs into both, and into CPs and there’s a material difference. Wisecos cuttings are grainy and similar to mahles. Where JE and CP produce a ribben like you expect when cutting aluminum. You pay for it. They are 150-200% more expensive.

Got an email from AA today,

I’ve got wisecos that I can get a weight on when they get back from getting balanced, I want to say they were right around 370g without the wrist pin

Yes! AA is having a sale. That's awesome! Thanks for the weight on the JE Chip! I'd still like to know the weight on the Wisecos though. I will be ordering some JE's while they are on sale.

JE's are a bit heavier, but way stronger.

When going turbo, strength is what matters...

Save the light weight stuff for the N/A motors..

buguy Fri Nov 27, 2020 7:56 am

I was hoping to get both! Strength and lightweight!

They are lighter than the Mahle "forged"

buguy Fri Nov 27, 2020 5:42 pm

Great. These are the ones I'm going to try. https://aapistons.com/products/vw-94-x-82-forged-je-drag-race-piston-and-cylinder-kit
Going to run them on a 78.4 crank with 5.6 CB H-beams. Probably pair those with CB cnc wedgeports. Unsure on the cam at the moment. I'm wanting some revvs with this engine.

I hate being broke on black friday

buguy Fri Nov 27, 2020 5:50 pm

I've been planning this sale for a while. But i feel ya. I'm throwing in a new case, hardware, chromoly headstuds, and some new cables in that cart too. I only have 15 miles on the last engine i built too! I guess the wife and kid wont be getting xmas gifts this year!

buguy Sun Nov 29, 2020 7:47 am

At $650 for a set of P&C i will definitely be crying!

madmike Sun Nov 29, 2020 9:12 am

complete Overkill for your sidestreet driving, lol
What'ch gonna build ?

buguy Sun Nov 29, 2020 10:47 am

Right now I'm thinking 78.4x94 big power, long rod, high revver. Still efi e85 turbo. Big turbo.

madmike Sun Nov 29, 2020 12:30 pm

what cam? heads? I'm trying the 92 TW with some 10mm studs

buguy Sun Nov 29, 2020 12:38 pm

That's all undecided at the moment. I was planning on using CB wedge heads, but when i talked to pat last he recommended them, but my goals have changed a little with more rpm. Cam.... No clue yet. 10mm studs here too.

So the new P&C will be here this week. I want to get barrels honed correctly and its super important for me because these were not cheap. There doesn't seem to be any good machine shops around here. Anyone have a suggestion who can do this with a tq plate and whatever else is needed to make them right?
