It's now listed as pending, under deposit. That was fast.
Too bad about the original bumpers. Maybe they can be located and rescued ?

You would think this guy could put a little more effort into showing the car.

What do you think about this car? Seems really well put together.

It's been discussed here in the "overpriced" thread last week: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=9964176#9964176

Its no doubt a beautiful car but over priced for what it is. But someone may pay the price that doesn't care about the details. Apparently this does happen, look what happened to the 1956-58 "Frankencar" that was deleted on BAT then sold twice after at auctions ending with a $110,000 final price for a coupe.

Yes I did, people here said I should offer $7k because of all the wrong parts but I paid the asking price.

I’d think that is closer to a $10k car, depending on rust. What do others think?

Marcdeb Thu Dec 01, 2022 1:39 pm

Just by looking at the pictures, it's difficult to judge but $22K is unrealistic for a coupe in this condition. A 57 cabriolet . . . maybe, but still a lot of money depending on it's condition. Even if someone can do all the work themselves, it's still going to end up with more cash invested than it's worth, which might be ok, if it's someone's dream car.

I paid $5k for my 1956 and it was in similar shape but with solid pans. That price is insane.

Does anyone know the story on this one? The owner, builder, history?

Nice!

There is not a panel on that car that doesn’t need major work. If somebody pays anywhere near that price, they need to have their head examined.

That’s pretty much what my car looked like…even sat as long…I paid less than 3 grand for mine…that was 12 years ago…looks like he’s gone down on the price to 16.

Wow!! I just noticed the seller is in Paradise California…survived the fire.
