An exceptional '59 Dolphin Blue coupe (VIN: 2312312), formerly owned by Scott Dempster of KGPR, will be up for sale soon in Japan. The car is near perfect, except for the incorrect front seat fabric and the removed? ribbed dash pad (VIN is far later than 2261050).

That is one to watch! I hope it won't go for auction but sold to the right person who appreciates what they are buying...a very special Karmann Ghia. |

What’s the fabric? I can’t make it out in the photos. |

Please look carefully at the registry photos of #38-40. The front seats have been redone with incorrect cloth material. |

$45K is reasonable for that car but I bet they start way higher. |

Am I the only one dreaming about putting this one back into shape
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2220823
?
Sadly, the start price (that I know is due to all the rare parts) and the hassle of transporting such a project up to Europe is preventing me from going crazy on it.. still, it stays in my mind..

It’s fun that it is so early isn’t it?
Note, this is the person who sells cars for Richard Troy— sold me my car. |

If there’s anyone who could do that car justice it would be you. If I could on a whim, I would pay the price of admission. It would be awesome to see the transformation in your hands. I just checked out your ragtop thread, beautiful! |

It’s a confusing ad.
So, the clip is the only body part original to the pan? The rear section it off another car so how can you date it since there are no numbers stamped on the rear? It could be a late 56. Or maybe the rear is original and the front clip is later and they took the body tag off of a crushed original front and screwed it to the later clip?
In any case you have a FrankenGhia at the end of the day which you would think would hurt it’s value to collectors. Maybe that and the insane asking price is why they haven’t been able to sell it. |

I like the 60 convertible. Curious to see if anyone even places the initial bid. Projects are a hard sell nowadays. |

In one of his eBay ads he says he is a "Karmann Ghia collector/ hoarder" that is liquidating 15 cars.
I know he has been buying up KGs for quit a few years now, but I don't know what else he might have for sale. |
