porsche 356/912 alternator conversion kit Price: $499.95

This kit contains all the components needed to convert your 356 or 912 to run with a 12v alternator but DOES NOT INCLUDE THE ALTERNATOR ITSELF. All 356 and 912 models come with a dynamo with a separate regulator and most 356s run with a 6v system. The advantage of this kit is that you can convert your old 6v system to run with a modern style 12v alternator. The benefits of this are plain to see with better lights, starting and you can run a modern stereo. The kit includes a fan hub, fan hub spacer, pressed steel fan backing plate, sand cast aluminum alternator stand, securing strap, gaskets and instructions. If you have an early style 356 engine with a flip top style filler can you will also need the specially made adapter plate shown in the pictures. This is available as a separate part and will cost an extra. $35
All the components for this kit have been custom made to adapt a modern style vw alternator to work with this engine. If you have any questions regarding this kit please let me know. The alternator itself is readily available from many vendors in the USA at low cost. you can use a bosch alternator AL82N or a no name replacement. just make sure it has a built in regulator.
