'68 - '73 Westy NEW FG Pop Top & luggage rack Price: $2,500 plus shipping
|
New & Vastly Improved 1968 - 1973 VW Bus Westy / Westfalia Fiberglass Pop top & Luggage racks also made in the USA!
I guess I need to add that these are not redone OEM FG parts but ALL BRAND NEW CONSTRUCTION! Made in the USA.....
$2,500.oo (Calif. Sales tax is $193.75) for the Fiberglass Pop top & Luggage rack also with the Pop Top Seal, Flat seal, Luggage rack Trim and Stainless Steel hooks for the luggage rack with Stainless Steel mounting bolts, screws, washers & hardware.
No hinges, inner tie downs mounts / rubber straps or canvas / curtain.
Part Number 33-700-68/73
Local So. Calif. pick up (custom made wood crates for Freight shipping is $550 plus the freight shipping. Return the crate intact to us and the $550 crate fee is returned)
We have made our own Fiberglass Molds and corrected all the problems from the old OEM versions.
Both luggage rack & pop top:
Vastly improve process and materials.
We use a Heavy Duty (THICK) Bright White PER (polyester resin) Gel coating for a true color surface coating unlike what the OEM Westfalia Luggage and pop tops used.
They use matched heated alum molds, pulled the 3/16"" thick fiberglass mat thru and compressed the glass (1/8"), then injected the white tinted lamination PER resin and then cooked it until it was cured. Pop open the mold and it was done, but the fiberglass ends are still exposed to the elements, which causes the mould and rough surface to them these days...
Rear Luggage rack:
No open area in the center which acts like an air brake with the air flow over the top of the Bus.
With the solid center, no more stuff falling thru the RUSTY STEEL BARS and rolling on the roof.
Plus, no more wet leaves cramming inside the open hole luggage rack and rusting out the Bus roof.
Our Luggage racks come drilled with 4x water drain holes in the corners. And the other needed holes and indented in the gel coat for you to use if needed. If you want to use the OEM style inner tie downs, you can drill those holes very easily, but on my own Luggage race, I'm using Marine flush mounted tie downs on the out side for better and easier tie down mounts!
BUT IF YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE a STOCK OEM type luggage rack, there's a fine line inside the top for you to use 1" masking tape and round the corners to cut out the center section and use your steel bars (also marked rivet holes too) to have a new OEM type one but with a better surface!
Front pop top:
We start out using a better grade of wood for the frame, larger wood wedges for better attachments and full length wood braces for the hinge mount area.
The wood frame is attached with modern strong adhesives, then we use expanding PUR foam to fill up the frame gaps, trim the foam off smooth and then we fiberglass the full wood frame to the laid up top for no water or moisture to damage the wood frame. The inner wood frame gaps are sealed and then the complete inside of the top is Bright White PER Gel coated so the frame is protected, when you look up at the top, it has a bright white finish to it. But you still can staple the curtain to the wood frame.
Extra Fiberglass reinforcement has been added to the front of the pop top to prevent it from bowing up later on.
These pop tops come with only the hinge holes drilled (undrilled by special order if you have other ideas for the main hinge) as then you can easily drill the top grab handle holes
