A Flat pedal upgrade is now available. The old throttle linkage design accelerator pedal is out dated and needs a upgrade. Before there were only two options available for these model years, stay with the old throttle linkage or go with a single lever roller ball. The retaining spring on the z bar throttle linkage design would pop off and the linkage would disconnect from the pedal. Switching to the simple single lever roller ball got rid of the linkage but ended up flopping around side to side. Not much fun.
There is way to much friction generated in the pedal cluster from these designs. Even putting shims between the roller ball and the pedal cluster will not correct the side loads put on these deigns and that's why the throttle pedal hangs up and feels sticky. The U-Shape Speed Ball is revolutionary in design by forming a u-shape that utilizes one of the cluster assembly pivot pin holes. The 2 piece U-Shape design is welded together making a strong, stuff Accelerator Lever. The new U-Shape Accelerator lever revolves around a longer CNC machined 304 stainless steel polished pivot pin that becomes a shaft and that gives you an effortless feel to the pedal. The rear stop tab on the new accelerator lever can be adjusted for bigger carburetors.
The U-Shape Speed Ball Conversion Kit #1 includes;
1. A New Aluminum Black Powder Coated Flat Pedal made out 6061 T6 that fits right into the original accelerator pedal bracket that is mounted to the pan with a 6 mm shoulder bolt for easy install and removal.
2. Flat pedal return spring.
3. The New Design U-shaped Speed Ball accelerator lever.
4. Machined Delrin Plastic Speed Ball.
5. A longer CNC machined polished pivot pin made from 304 Stainless Steel and E-clip.
6. Universal accelerator cable and mounting hardware.
7. New Rubber Pedal Pad.
No modifications needed. All parts have been inspected and fitted to insure that they fit and work as described.
