The SVDA 034 distributor is a quality reproduction of the original vacuum-advance Bosch 0 231 170 034 / VW 043-905-205, federal model distributor that came stock from the factory on the 1974 VW Beetle with 1600 engine and manual transmission. Perfect for use with the 34PICT carburetor. This distributor requires a vacuum source from the carburetor or throttle body (when used with fuel injection). Can use standard Bosch distributor cap, rotor, vacuum can, etc.
Some of the advantages of the SVDA 034 distributor over the 009 distributor:
* Better acceleration: helps eliminate the 009's infamous "flat spot" on take-off
* Cooler engine temps
* More power, throughout the advance curve
* Better fuel economy
* No need to run a rich fuel/air mixture to compensate for the 009's poor acceleration, which results in unburned hydrocarbons in the exhaust and reduced engine life
This distributor fits 12-volt, air-cooled Volkswagen, except later models with factory electronic ignition and 1974 and earlier Bosch fuel injection systems triggered by contacts in the bottom of the distributor.
Works great with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection on 1975-83 VW Bus/Vanagon (except '79-83 California models).
Includes cap, rotor and everything you need - no external ignition box required.
Coil Required: Stock VW/Bosch 3+ Ohm coil or HS34HEC High-Energy Coil recommended.
