Thanks for checking out these custom, handmade LED lights for 56-61 bugs! The purpose of these lights is to provide a faster lighting, brighter and an overall safer alternative to the stock style incandescent bulbs normally used with the stock light assembly. The running light is made up of 24 LEDs that are strategically placed behind the snowflake design in the factory lens. When lit it gives the snowflake a cool glowing appearance, not normally seen with the factory light bulb. The brake/turn light is made up of 29 LEDs. These LEDs are arranged in 5 vertical bars that will catch the attention of drivers behind you much faster than your stock setup. They also give the classic light a very modern LED appearance when lit.
With a total of 53 LEDs per side, you are sure to catch the attention of other drivers on the road, so you can now focus on enjoying the drive in your classic or custom VW, instead of focusing on the rear view mirror hoping that the car behind you can see you.
I build these lights in 6 volt and 12 volt, because they are a nice addition to ANY bug, whether it be cruising with a bone stock 36er, or tearing up the town in your multi hundred HP monster.
The lights will function just like your stock lights do, and only need one additional wire to be added(included with purchase) in order to provide a good ground(no more random light out issues!). Installation is very easy and can be done by anyone with a couple simple tools.
*NOW AVAILABLE!* I have added a new option for those of you who are looking for a fun project, or for those that have more time than money right now. I am willing to sell these LED lights in DIY kit form, 12v and 6v. The kit will include almost everything(boards, LEDs, wire, connectors) that you'll need to build your own set of these lights, as well as detailed instructions. These kits have just become much simpler to build, I have had some circuit boards printed. This will significantly reduce build time and effort. Anyone that can solder will be able to assemble a set with ease.
*Optional* To make the conversion a little cleaner, I can also build a new tail light harness to go along with these lights. They come with a Delphi GT series connector set for each side. This makes for a nice waterproof seal and also insures that you won’t mix up wires when putting the lights in your car. The option is only available with an assembled set of lights, not DIY kits. Cost is $25
