Thumbs up to Jake over at Aircooled Technology. For months I have been trying to figure out what I was going to power my 61 Beetle with. I decided to go Type IV and contacted Jake. After countless Pm's back and forth I put my first order in for Bug Me Video: Type 4 Conversion, Bug Me Video Type 4 Engine Rebuild and Joe Cali Type 4 Conversion Manual. Since I have been doing the VW's thing I have ran into a number of shops and people who just don't know how to treat a customer. Everything from unanswered Pm's, no call backs, weeks to ship a part that was suppose to be in stock, bogus shipping dates, etc. Well I must say I have NEVER received any of this from the crew at Aircooled Technology. In fact I placed my order on Friday, March 2, 2007at 11:39:04 PM. I received an automated email letting me know the order was in there hands. I was told it would take about a week to ship and then to my surprise Wednesday I received an email with my tracking number. Customer service is before, during and after the sale. So far I'm very happy with the experience and recommend them to anyone.
I think there should be an area (section/category) called "Vendor and sellers feedback". This way people can post great and not so great things about Vendors/Sellers to help people know what they are getting into or not getting into. _________________ Welder/fab repair

Sorry....."Buyer and Seller Feedback" is the best The Samba could come up with.

Thanks so much! All vendors are faced with a different set of tasks and challenges from day to day, you'd never guess from the experience that you have hasd so far just how goofed up the last few weeks have been here! We have been getting ready for Race season, just finished the new dyno lab and have been doing all sorts of over the top stuff thats just not normal!
I have tried very hard to keep our inventory as large as possible to turn orders around, but with most every part we sell needing some sort of machining, modification or quality control checks from me or my assistant, Brent personally it can slow things down on larger more demanding orders.
I run this place way differently than most VW shops/ parts sources and the difference shows with our loyal customers coming back time after time!
Thanks for the kind words and I hope to be able to serve you again in the future.. _________________ Jake Raby

Thanks for the redirect and link.
With your work ethic, dedication and devotion you will go a long way. With so many less than par shops even the simplest thing will set you apart and make the customer feel great. Keep up the great work. _________________ Welder/fab repair

Got my package today and spent a few hours watching the videos. Very informative and a must for anyone doing the Type IV conversion.
I watched the Bug Me Type IV Upright conversion and Type IV rebuild. _________________ Welder/fab repair

Be carefull watching those videos. There is some very important information that is not on those tapes that were "edited out due to time restraints". At least that was Jake told me. Due to the "edited out" parts of the video, i now have some parts that i can't use on my application. Needless to say, Jake will not stand behind his product. BUT, he will try to assit you over a phone call and YOU have to do the work to make his "advertised to work" part work. |

Fellas, i wanted to give you an update on my experience with Jake and Aircooled Technology...
First thing this morning i recieved a call from Jake. Kinda took me off gaurd as i was never expecting a call from him due to his busy schedual, and due to some harsh words from me here on the forums. I must say, the conversation went very well. He understood some of my views and i understood his views as well. He was VERY concerned in what i was doing with my motor as i am an newbie to the the type 4 world.
Long story short, he explained what happened to my first order and he very much wanted my first type 4 experience to be a good one, and thats why he was so pursistant in "pounding" his views into me. And after talking with him and picking his brain a little, now i can see why.
So i must appoligize if i came across harsh on Jake and his company. I look forward to purchasing his products in the future.

Craig,
Thanks for the clarification.. and the kind words..
It was nice chatting with you. I hope you end up appreciating the TIV platform as much as I did from the very beginning.
Good luck! _________________ Jake Raby

No, lets hash this out right here, after all this is the buyer and seller feedback forum.
Before going further into the realms of this conversation I'd like to inform the readers that Craig has not purchased any more components from my store.
When we last visited this thread (Posted: Wed Aug 06, 2008 9:03 pm ) Craig was exceptionally pleased with my phone call that addressed his issues for the parts of mine that he had purchased. Prior to this he had made negative comments here, on the STF and even on my forums, to say the least Craig's personality seems to swing radically and I refuse to sit on the sidelines and allow him to make statements and start problems.
Since that time he has also posted one of my Type 4 DTM cooling systems for sale on the classifieds section of my forum stating that he'd trade the unit for a Type 1 DTM since he had decided not to finish his Type 4 engine. I chimed in and agreed that if he could not find someone to do this that I'd trade him a new Type 1 DTM for his Type 4 DTM. He stated that he didn't have the original packaging and etc, but I told him that was Ok- that I would take the shroud kit back anyway. To date he has never returned the TIV shroud kit.
Now lets get into the meat of the issue:
A few weeks ago in a thread on MY PRIVATE FORUMS Craig made some comments in a thread that I had initiated about someone attempting to replicate our CNC Type 4 Cylinder Heads. Craig basically stated that our heads were too expensive and he saw no issues with someonbe copying them. I took offense to these statements and immediately closed the thread, because I have ZERO tolerance for argumentive threads on my forums.
I took serious issue with what Craig stated because HE NEVER BOUGHT OUR HEADS and as far as I know he has never seen or touched a pair of them, so how could he make such a statement? On top of that his statement seemed to come out of the blue, not being provoked by anyone or anything and was made in a sensitive thread that was started to let people know that someone had attempted to rip-off our work.
Craig immediately got pissed off after I closed the thread on my forums and started PMing me with negative comments and statements about how I treated a thread on MY forums that **I** pay for in full.
To say the least this didn't strike me too well and when provoked I will retalliate. Now out of the blue it seems that Craig has some sort of motive/ personal agenda against me and my company, even after I was willing to allow him to swap his components that he had purchased MONTHS AGO, and even after his off base comments on my forums.
Craig pretty much proves that he is here to start trouble with this single statement:
Quote: |
Anybody that has any bad comments about Jake Raby or Aircooledtechnology please pm me. |
If he wasn't out for trouble why would he only be interested in "bad comments about Jake Raby"?
I'll close by saying that I deal with THOUSANDS of customers at a retail level every year, so you can bet that not every one of them is totally 1,000% pleased with what we do. What matters is for every one person that Craig can find that has an issue with me or my Company I can find two dozen that have been more than pleased and feel that we have offered them more than they paid for. My position exposes me to the public and anytime that occurs people come out of no where with their own "problems" with who ever the person is in the spotlight. Some of them are jealous, some are crazy and others are just plain jerks, and lord knows I have had my share of them... Danimal and Danny From Puerto Rico are among the most radical in history..
So:
Long story short Craig doesn't like my intense personality and didn't like it when I reacted to his post on my forums and thats fine with me. What I have issue with is Craig taking this issue to other forums where he intends to start trouble without provocation for something that occurred weeks ago.
To clarify:
Craig has not purchased anything else from us since I addressed his thread here back in August when I successfully addressed his questions with a personal phone call, leaving him thoroughly pleased, so much that he responded here very positively.
And even after all of this and his current attempts to create trouble for us I am still willing to swap those cooling systems for him and I doubt that ANY other Vendor in this Industry would do that.
I'll close by stating that I don't know why Craig has these extreme personality changes because he didn't seem that way on the phone when we talked at length back in August. Perhaps he has a couple of beers too many in the evening sor perhaps when he is behind the keyboard things occur that otherwise would not.
Craig stated:
Quote: |
Welp, Jake did it again.. |
My response to that is:
-Craig did it again-
(and I have record of all of Craig's PMs to me, his posts on every forum and a file folder with his name on it)
If Craig has a problem with my intensity or my personality that is NOT a "buyer/seller" issue.
So why did Craig post this? You be the Judge... _________________ Jake Raby

Nope, not going to do it publicly. That's why i want pm's and emails from others. I'm not asking them to post them here.
And of course, your not telling the whole story.. but that's ok.
My mood "swings" are only twards you. Nobody else. Your greed and attitude is getting to you. I've got plenty of emails and pm's from people from the samba, STF, 914 club, ect.. with people that have the same exact veiw of you as i do.
In fact, i just talk'd to a person today that was very close to you that shares the same attitude.
Enough said.
People with comments, please p.m. me.
Thank you. |

Yet again this has nothing to do with buyer or seller feedback. While you are gaining all of this data make sure you get invoice numbers and engine serial numbers and those had better match what I have on record.

Now I see the motive... So let me guess you are gathering what ever you can "dig up" in hopes of getting a discount from "this person". Now I know exactly who you are "working with".
So, what is your intent?? Gonna write a book about how bull headed I am? Going to make a website? Going to form a splinter group of haters?
If you are having to post in search of people with "bad experiences" the general consensus would be that they are quite rare. _________________ Jake Raby

What part of take it private is not understood?
If anyone has something related to feedback of an actual purchase, please PM me or Everett and it will be unlocked.
Everett has been informed and will review.
We don't need another feedback topic that turns into an 10 page public argument. _________________ Glenn
