(don't worry, it is just my driveway not an open road)

It snowed this morning, so time for a pic from a warmer day.

I had some dinky LEDs as turn signals that were glued in my the PO. Not bad, probably what was considered good at the time. But I replaced them with KC HiLites amber rock lights. These are so much brighter. I think I'll replace the surface mount with flush mount though.

Today I replaced the cables to my s-pod, the stock ones were a bit short, like 6”… I bought really long 8g cables from them. First time I used my little hammer style crimper.

After that I took the Baja to slick rock to ride.

You could feel the drag of the bike at highway speed. So I took the backroad.

I have had an issue starting when the motor is hot for a while now. Following a few threads I adjusted the choke. It might have helped? I think next I need to check the fuel pressure from my new(ish) pump, maybe that is it? Anyway, it always starts, it just takes a bit of finagling sometimes.

Thanks Ropo! The roof basket is a Kuat Vagabond X, which unfortunately is no longer made.

But it has been on 4 of my cars now! First was my 69 beetle, then my jeep and last to this beetle.

I did a bunch of little maintenance items, the most important (IMHO) was to find and fix the leaky fuel line from tank to tunnel tube. I put some sheath on some cables, attached my rotopax to the rack, covered up the heater tubes, flush mounted my led turn signals and adjusted the choke. Fun little projects. Well except the gas line, that took some time and smelled.

Shakedown ride, I put braided wire loom on the wires in the engine area. Just for a little extra protection for my dirt road cruises.

New tire day. I was curious, checked the date codes on my old tires, they were 20 years old… so new knobby tires.
