I had my MC rebuilt by Jim Adney and installed it today, I then bled all 4 wheels and my brakes are now only slightly better than they were before the rebuild (by slightly better I mean, still crappy) and now I can't get my brake lights to work, both plugs are plugged in... I need help fast, I'm trying to goto a car show tommorow morning. The MC is ATE brand.

How are your flex hoses to each wheel? How old are the wheel cylinders/calipers?

the flex hoses are fine, the bentley manual said if i have to push the petal to the floor for brakes get new pads and shoes, which i did, then it said if problem persists replace master cylinder, which i did, and i still have to press petal to floor.

Is the actuating rod on the brake pedal installed and adjusted properly? How is the rear brake adjustment? You should be just able to spin the wheels with some resistance in the back if they're adjusted properly. Check your front pads- if you have the thick anti rattle clip and the pad backing plates are bottomed out against it, you will get a low, weak pedal. If all that's OK, check to see if you are losing fluid anywhere. I'd check the front to rear line that runs under the carpet on the driver's side of the tunnel if I were you, especially if the fluid slowly goes away but there's no real apparent leak anywhere. Carpet and sound deadening can absorb a LOT of brake fluid.
Remember, even the best master cylinder is only as good as the rest of the system.

Does pulling up on the hand brake raise the pedal before it bottoms out? If so you still need to adjust the rear brakes tighter. Also if you have disc brakes, bleed them first, then do the rears (start with the right side on both ends). The hand brake should only need to be raised 3 or 4 clicks before locking the rear tires. If it's not doing this, then you need to adjust the rear brakes. I hope this helps.

Well I'v been trying for the past 3 hours to figure out why my damn brake lights don't work, I guess the only thing it could be is both switches are bad, even though the brake lights worked before i sent it to ge rebuilt. It sucks though because now I can't drive to the show. Thanks for the input on fixing the brakes though, I'm going to work on that after I catch up on sleep
