I know this is an old subject, but I just saw more Things on TV in one day than I ever have. On 2/14/04, Speed II was on Telemundo (I don't speak Spanish and Speed II sucks, but a Thing was on TV, so I watched for a while). Then there was a really bad chick flick with Reese Witherspoon on TNT or something. The only Witherspoon I'll usually watch is John Witherspoon, but half the movie took place inside a gray '74, and there was lots of good Thing shots. Plus, every commercial break showed the commercial for that Adam Sandler movie w/ the Yellow Thing spraypainted with fake rust. All in all, this Valentines Day was a good one for "Thing Awareness." I had to tell some people who might appreciate that, cuz my girlfriend sure as hell didn't...

I got hooked on Things when i was a kid because of a TV show. back in the early 70s, there was a television show on the canadian CTV channel called "George" about the adventures of a St. Bernard dog in Switzerland. George's owner drove a 181.

Don't forget The Simpsons Thing.

Marge's sisters Patty & Selma that work at the DMV drive a Thing.

I remember a Thing in the movie 'Fire Sale'. The main character played by Alan Arkin drove it.

When I told my co workers that I owned a Thing they said "That's the Moesha car!" So, the 90's TV show Moesha had one too.

You know, you could just look at this list instead:

Didn't see a mention for the Michael Keaton movie Pacific Heights, so it can't be a complete listing.

Last night on Burn Notice there was a 74 Thing. They were supposed to be in the bahamas. It looked like it had a redone yellow paint job, big tires, no top, a little rusty on the rockers and fenders.

what was funny is it ended up being a getaway car, being chased by the bahamian cops! and it did get away!

Opening scene of Jimmy Buffett music video "Fruitcakes in the Kitchen". White 74 running without doors, aftermarket steering wheel (Momo?), Seats with separate headrest.

Appropriate song for this forum.

Hmmmm, embedding didn't work. Sorry, you'll have to look for yourself on YouTube

it bothers me how they are suds-ing up the windows ad top there

it also bothers me how Jimmy Buffett sits SO CLOSE to the wheel. I laughed when I noticed the speedometer needle bounces though

I never really understood the whole Jimmy Buffet thing, but by featuring a Thing in his video, he's scored a few points in my book.

This resurrected thread makes me feel old. Confused I was in my 20s when I started it, now I'm well into my 30s. The "new" Sandler movie I cited seems ancient now, and the girlfriend I mentioned is now my wife of several years -- we have a 3-year-old daughter and another on the way. I still have The Thing, though, and it's pretty much the same as it was in '04. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
