This car is stunning... one of the nicest I've seen. Congrats!!!
Wanting to know more about the stance please. Setup etc... what tyre size/width/Dia etc also the rims... what size are they. How did you go with the offset once you changed the beam etc... what about the rear?
Appreciate the info on all the questions

Hello everyone. After years of wanting to get a Thing, I finally took the dive last month. Here it is; still trying to decide on a name. I am planning on adding a full convertible top with side windows and a "show bar."

This thread needs more pictures!
Here's my Thing in the garage. Much of her story has been documented on this forum over the past 10.5 years (much of which this was my daily driver), but I haven't been active for the past 2 years as life has caught up with me. I had driven her to some family property back in summer 2016 when she broke down and ended up stored there for a while since I didn't have the time to go make the repairs. This actually turned out well, as Hurricane Matthew rolled through in October of that year and brought a tree down on the carport at our house that the Thing would normally have occuped. Later in mid-2017 while my wife was pregnant, I got the engine running and brought the car back home. It pretty much died again rolling into the driveway and hasn't moved since thanks largely to a lack of time since then.
Now that I have worked out some free time, I've rebuilt the carburetor, replaced the battery, and am hoping to get the engine started again this week. My main goal is to get it cleaned up and running reliably for VW Drag Night in July.
Anyway... Imma need you all to post more pictures of your Things on the road so I get jealous enough to finish fixing mine. |
