As promised. Split taillight location as follows.
Notice that there is a bulge for the bulbholders.
Edit: Fixed the picture link too.. |
The original photo is lost due to the original gallery been deleted but here is an improved drawing for the rear taillight for split beetles. This also show the shape/position of the dimple..

It's in Metric, but I think you can recalculate the measurements.

The photo posted with the hole position does not seem to be available anymore, would anyone have a copy of it? |

I think they are placed to low, they should be higher up
The longer I stare at the picture, the more i think the rear looks like a face with the (pope's) nose and with the taillights for eyes... _________________ drive it like you just robbed the bank

17 years ago, I found the rear panel from an early oval, starting half way down the window to luggage area including the vents and the luggage rails, in a scrap yard, paying $10 for the lot! Upon seeing that, I immediately remembered I had a w-decklid, which a friend had thrown away in a skip, stored in my granny's basement. I put 1 and 1 together and ended up with something quiet unique!
Here are 2 pics of the grafting:
I just couldn't resist adding the vent trims then, giving the decklid a more factory-intended look!
The closest I ever saw was this one:
It's not a common sight considering what you need to chop up to fabricate it! and it cost me close to nothing! |

I used the information on this thread to find the proper postion for my hearts. Very grateful!
Here's a pic of the end result, with the hearts in place,
and also on the 3rd brake light topic, a picture of the 51 pope nose brake light, coupled to 53 hearts! no twin filaments were used in the production of this photo

Hello Getju. That looks nice. Sorry to get off of topic but I have a
Question - Are those Oval vent trim on your deck lid? Was Oval window vents grafted into the deck lid? |

The cops are the same way around here, that's why I need to figure a way to mount a 3rd brake light somewhere that it will only show when brakes are applied. I bought a vintage School Bus "STOP" light, but it's the bigger one, and looks really tacky.

Hay 5vert6 when I saw this I thought of the VW38 found in Lithuania. Why didn't VW keep this going?
I would love to see what a 3rd brake heart light would look like installed |

Thx but this is the one for past heart light
I need the diameters for the heart lights itself.
I guess I'll just measure my brackets and guess the other holes |
