Jim, would it be helpful to measure the size of the opening front to back? I have a 3 fold car here and could put a tape measurer on it.

Is it known that the front to back opening changed in dimension?

Yes, it did, the two fold became shorter. I don't have the exact dimensions but I believe the 3 fold was about 48" and the two fold about 36"

Fastest way is to see if there is a straight little metal lip at the front of it all the way across if it's more of a rounded hump then it's 2 fold.

Jim send me a pic and I can help you out.

I have a 1959 2 fold here in the garage, no trim, no mechanism and it measures......

29 3/16" wide on the inside lip where the headliner would connect

36 " long at the center, also where the headliner would connect

Both of these dimensions can vary a little depending upon how bent in or how far out the metal teeth that grip the headliner are. By vary I mean maybe an 1/8" max either way.

The 59 2 fold hole is for sure the same hole as the LATE (3rd version) 56 2 fold roof. I am not sure about the 2 earlier 56 versions and what their exact dimensions are. I suspect the 2nd version has the same size as the 3rd but am not 100% sure.

i measured on the outside of the car with no mechanism installed on a 55 bug. edge to edge right in the center of the hole each direction.(front to back and side to side)

from inside the car the hole measures 43 1/2 x 29

i dont have a 2 fold car around to measure

Using the above system on the 59 2 fold roof......

33 1/8" wide

38 1/8" long

I think you should have to go back and repeat a semester of "Oval Window 101".
