I recently saved my 61 DC from San Diego Classic VW as the owner of the shop lacks heavily in the ability to keep his word and finish what he starts... Having said that I finally have my beloved van home but it comes with lots of loose ends. Many parts were lost that were with the van when it was dropped off and I'm now trying to source these things so that I can get the beast completed.

The cargo door striker on the van right now does not allow the door to close properly and after some research I found that I have a striker for a regular van and not a DC. I'm wondering if someone has any pics available or a part number of what I should be looking for. Or if luck is on my side perhaps someone out there has an extra striker available for purchase.

I don't have a pic of it removed but I can do that if necessary.

You can find the part # in the online parts list at:

#3 here

Someone ought to reproduce them in a small batch, maybe a 100? I have one on my '59 DC, but I'd certainly buy an extra well-repro'ed striker plate in case mine ever wore out/broke, etc. Doesn't look too complicated in shape. Definitely a different shape from the normal Bus striker plate, different VW part number reflecting that.

If this is the part... maybe will help someone find one someday.

I think the text translates to door closing wedge. (Part # page is missing from oacdp.org)

Here is one I found in an old classified ad and added to the gallery. I purchased one from campingbox awhile back that has a different part number, but otherwise is identical. I'll post a pic when I get home from work.

Here is a DC rear door striker with an oddball part number...other than 261 (Single Cab) prefix it is identical to a 265 841 771 striker. Any clue as to where this part number originated?
