I have been watching a 1968 type 3 squareback for nearly twenty years. It has been in a barn ever since I first saw it. I bought some motorcycle parts from a co-worker and it was in the barn then. . When I picked them up, I discovered this squareback. This week I decided it was time to ask the owner about selling it. she said yes and she is the original owner. It needs a good buff job and new hoses. the car is a survivor and is near perfect. Only slight surface rust, It should be easy to make it a driver. I will leave it as is. Pictures to come later. I am sure you can understand my excitement

Yeah, I don't think we had enough hippies in NC back in 68. More hippies would mean more type 3's left over

I didn't think the hippies gravitated towards the Type 3. They went more for the buses (painted with flowers and peace signs) and bugs ('cuz they were cheap and didn't look like the cars of the establishment). Type 3's looked too mainstream for that group.

Waiting on those pictures...

Hopefully this car survived the latest hurricane! Shocked

And since you're in Bath, NC, maybe it's Blackbeard's old squareback?

I lived in Goldsboro for about 10 years. I only saw two Type 3s the entire time I was there...

I speak for everyone when I say, "We want to see it how it was found in the barn". Not saying it didn't come from a barn, but that's the point of the barn find is showing us the glory of those years gone by. Idea

read my first post. I found it buying motorcycle parts from a friend. The car belonged to his wife's mother who sold it to me 20 years later.
