Thank you!
The story behind the bus:
It has for many years been in the woods here in northern Sweden and where used as a hunting cabin. (Hole in the roof for chimney) The bus was slaughtered on their parts. Some (including instrument) would possibly go to England.
A few years ago when it still stood in the forest, the bus unfortunately was given to two different people from the landowner and his son. One of those lokal vw fans go there and secured some parts, including the ID tag. (Possibly taillights and decklid too, as they still were on the discovery pictures) But when they finaly go to get the bus, the other person has already took it. The other thought that someone stole the bus and spread out that it was stolen. After a while it turned out that it was all an unfortunate misunderstanding, because the landowners had give it to two diffrent persons.
Then the two fail to agree, when the new owner valued the bus's value higher than the other. (The other one already had a great feb-51 bus)
In this summer the owner contacted me and my brother and asked if we were intrested to make a trade. We were a little hesitant, when we knew the previous problem, but when it was a 1950 and the "second owner" had the chance to make a deal and dident do that, it was hard to say no ...
We swoped against two other split buses (a regular and a samba 21 w).
It may look great in the pictures but it is much, much work to make it executable. Rusty to the floor and many parts are missing. I have had contact with the other "owner" who secured the ID-tag and he had no hard feelings and promised us that we will got the id-tag. I also hope that he has the decklid and the taillights. Does anyone know where the rest of the parts had gone, I am very interested to buy / swop them back! (Of course, at market value) / / B

That english was easier to understand than a lot of the people you run into that have lived in the US since birth! Cool story. _________________ I will never lie, but sometimes the truth changes.

Earliest known LHD/LHDoor bus?
What's with all the left hand cargo door buses in Sweden?
I know they changed from RHD to LHD in 1967, but why didn't they have alot of RHD buses? _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS

They did have a fair number of RHD buses, most (if not all?) of the surviving RHD barndoor sambas seem to be from Sweden !, although they did seem to have a good number of LHD too, so maybe the supply of RHD VWs back then was an issue and alot of people just opted to get LHD cars ? |
