This is a question for all the people that are in Albuquerque or close to it. I bought a Dune Buggy that is on a 1974 pan, I drove it home but it has a couple problems. Sometimes a person needs to know what he can and can not do. Well I am at a point where I know what I cant do, and what I don't have time to do. I know how to paint/airbrush but I dont understand the mechanics of it. I am looking for someone that I can trust to do a few things to my Buggy. If you are good with VW Dune Buggy, or know of someone in the area that can to a few things for me. Please let me know, perhaps we can work a deal. Bellow you will find a list of things that I would like to have done to it before to long.

List of things that I need to have done as soon as possible.
Needs a Tune up because I don't know what been done to it as I have not done anything to it since I owned it
It is a 6 Volt and I want to have it converted to a 12 Volt.
Shift linkage needs to be adjusted.
Scat Shifter needs Installed and Adjusted that I have
New Emergency Brake needs installed and Adjusted
Brakes need adjusted as it pulls to the passenger side under braking. But it really needs adjusting.
The exhaust needs to be replaced as it is a two piece and I would prefer something else

Things that need to be done but it depends on price.
I want to have the floorpans replaced and have a cage to protect passengers from side impact that will go on the outside of the body
I want a Roll Cage that will protect from a roll-over But will mostly be for looks.
I want a custom front and back bumper made.
I want a new set of Wheels and Tires
I have more that I would like to have done but this is it for now.
If you can help please send me a PM and I will get back to you.

At least for me, part of being a VW owner, driver, enthusiast is that I can perform most of my own regular maintenance. Most if not all the items in your first list can be done with basic tools, reference material, and a bit of self-confidence.

First thing to do is get a good maintenance manual. I prefer the Bentley but even a Clymer , or the Muir Idiot book is good. Then review them before trying to do anything. Pick out those evolutions you feel comfortable performing and then work up from there.

Second thing to do is find a group of local VW enthusiasts, go to meets and cruises. Pick their brains.

Bentley book is the best I've found. Muir book is good bathroom use book... or as a doorstop.
