Since I'm fitting a tach I moved the clock over to the passenger side and left it as 6v never even bothering to see if it worked or not when I restored the gauges....why I didn't just doesn't make any sense right now but in any case I ended up with a 12v T3 clock for parts to make my tach and decided to see if the movement worked but no potatoe. bummer.
Looked on the samba and came across the clock repair guide and sure enough mine had the "blown" fuse deal going on and I thought A HA! that's it! Re soldered the link but still no joy. Closed the contact manually and re connected 12v to see it energise and wind up the mechanism but no tickety tick......closed the contacts again and sprayed the gears and moving parts with spray oil manually operating the gears back and forth, tried again and wadda ya know, success!
Quite neat to watch it work and wind up every minute or so, seems to keep accurate time as well so far.
With the 12v movement working I took the clock apart and swapped out the 6v movement converting the clock to 12v.
Not overly useful or productive but quite neat for it too work. _________________ https://www.facebook.com/pages/West-Worx/460154187360186 |

Anco and Trico seem to be the two companies that still make refills. Not sure if they will fit the Bosch blade holders or not. |
These actually say they are not for Anco holders.

I've got some SWF rubber refills for T-3s if you still have your original blades... Would a couple of these help John?

Thanks for the offer Bob, I think the new SWF blades I got and painted silver are going to work just fine so I'll stick with those.
What I do need is a 12V wiper motor......
In saying that I removed both the push button dash and the wiper motor yesterday in order to bench test things to help understand what the f*&k is going on, here's what I think. The voltage dropper will not allow enough current to pass through it to satisfy the motor.
I ended up wiring in series a 6V 45W bulb (should be around 7.5amps draw) with the wiper motor and with that it runs at about the right speed, could be a little faster so a higher wattage bulb will allow more current.
I also tried a 6v 21W bulb which made it run slower confirming what I thought.
Now a 45w bulb glowing under the dash isn't all that appealing so some sort of current limiter would be needed. _________________ https://www.facebook.com/pages/West-Worx/460154187360186 |

I was getting worried you'd forgotten the project there for a while with all your other goings on
Hoped to grab a chat yesterday but you left before I caught up with you.
Love the shiny new bumpers, fingers crossed they fit better than the Type 14 ones Kiwighia and I have. _________________ Rusty 61 RHD Karmann Ghia Coupe - Resto in progress....slowly

Hi John, how is the progress on your resto, have seen any posts for a while.
I have started restoring my T34, unfortunately mine was in an bad accident previously with shoddy repairs and it affected the structural integrity and door openings amongst other things.
I have a 5mm difference between one side to the other. Do you have any measuremnts for your door openings, from the front door pillar to the striker?
I don't know which side is correct because both sides of the car were hit. _________________ VW fan & Real Estate Agent at www.argyproperty.com.au

Indeed it runs and drives, still tuning to do on the ecu but so far runs ok on a stock standard Golf GTI ecu which is pretty encouraging.
Have a bunch of things I'm not happy with but will remove those parts and rectify those.
One of them is the windshield seals, the trim does not sit in the middle of the Simon Kelley seals but so far have not found a better solution. _________________ https://www.facebook.com/pages/West-Worx/460154187360186 |
