Ok-
I just spoke with notched [phillip b] at great length on what is needed to get this off the ground.
For now this is your task...This will be a Type 3 Global registry , Year,Condition, not an issue...As long as your VIN is from a Type 3 your good to go
We are willing to start this undertaking...but we need your help.
1--Yes we need a name
Oh yeah..

So you want names of people who own type3's? Or people that are willing to seek out cars and vin #'s?

i would say to also post onto www.vwtype3.org. there were people who were going to start up (or restart) the Type 3 registry. No sense in duplicating efforts. Is it gonna be in conjunction with the T34 Registry? They are type 3's after all. Let me know if you need help Martin, I'm down! _________________ Raul

That's done..
What I am looking at here {big picture} is a registry/ club that once you have joined you and your car are locked in for life. [or as long as the website is around]
It will be type 3 only's driver/show/ratter...you got one we want you.
How cool would it be to know how many cars are where?
I am not thinking of chat rooms and classifeds as that is already out there. But this would be more of a updated monthy type of site...and online magazine if you will.
Tech articles, Car features, car show reports and the like, complete with history, stock and non-stock...all of it.
Raru-you bet I will let you know.
OK but stil anyone? Any good names?
Ideas? _________________ Martin Magnia

Here ya go Martin... I'm willing to give it a whirl. Just some quick ones off the top of my head..(Don't laugh too hard at some of these)
The Third Version Worldwide Registry
Global Air Cooled 3's
Vintage Type 3's
Type 3 Classics
Type 3 Beat
Darksiders
Like I said...just some quick ones off the top of my head!
You can add "Worldwide/Registry" in conjunction with the above.
I'm sure I'll come up with more given a little time............ _________________ DSD

It sounds good. I think I would like to join it when you get the details worked out. I think I more than qualify, since I have a couple of them here, and have been a type3 owner since 1989 (we still have that car ). I'm not very good at names for clubs though, so you might want to work with some of the others here, although there were some good ones already posted. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Hey I just checked and my numbers match. I couldn't find the numbers under the seat until I rubbed away the rust. There they were engraved into the metal under the back seat. Yeah _________________ Ho'oponopono |

I like the idea. How would you organize the locations? Regionally or ???
I am a recent re-newed member of the Type 3 family.
First one bought in 1984, owened a total of seven. No Type I's in my family tree.
I will help if I can.
I think " VW Type 3 Registry" just makes sense. |

Where did I hear Type 3 invasion. Is that a once a year event? I think I remember seeing that in vwtype3.org. That would be a cool name but not very original if someone else is using it for something else. The stupid club I'm in here is call "Cochise aircooled bugs and Buggies" I hate the name for one and there is a bunch of political nonsence involved also that makes meetings feel like city counsil meetings. I'm down to join a type 3 club, I have three as for now and plan on building more so I geuss I'm in. I can screen print shirts for super cheap when this takes off. My girlfriend is a badass artist/web designer if you need any help there. _________________ "Ummm, yeah my car would run a lot better if I put the motor back in" |

I like "VW Type 3 Registry."
Two reasons why:
1) Nobody has come up with anything better yet
2) The name is indicative of what the org. is about. Any other names are going to probably be vague. Unless people just want a name that sounds cool but has nothing to do with what the org is/does. Someone above summed it up nicely when they said it just "makes sense." |
