Planning a week trip to the NC Outer Banks Oct 19th and I have been considering adding a solar panel in the luggage rack.
was looking for a 200 watt panel, but couldnt find the right size to fit.
decided on a 120 watt panel to feed into my Bluetti EB70 while going down the road,
I have a 200 watt suitcase panel that I can set up on the ground if needed once I arrive to my destination, but usually there is power available.

so far works great, keeps my Alpicool CF35 fridge going great.
the most I have brought in was 68 watts, but the fridge draws no power when the condensor isnt running, 40 watts when it runs in ECO mode.
not having to pay for ICE has pretty much paid for the fridge.

a few photos of course.

Went to Vdubs on the square in Dallas, NC ( their first cruise show ) 72 Vdubs showed up and everyone had a good time.
instead of driving all the way, shared a site at Kings Mountain State Park and then cruised in the next morning.

Maintenance:
Had to change out a couple terminals on my coil, that went to solenoid and choke... terminal didnt come all the way off, but caused a hesitation under load. all good now.

Day 4 started off with checking out the area and the Hatteras Lighthouse.
Then heading up Hwy 12 to Kill Devil Hills, NC where we spend 3 nights.

I like taking photos of murals with the bus.

FYI:
There are a couple of campgounds on Hatteras ( Frisco and Cape Point ) you can book through recreation.gov, but they dont have power or hot water for showers.

anyway, we came back to the entrance and there was a pull over by a Lake so awning out and fixed some lunch.
people would stop and pull over to take photos and chat.

Day 5 & 6 were mainly sightseeing runs, and still eating.

I highly recommend seeing the Wright Brothers Memorial, it is $10 per person, but I have the America the Beautiful park Pass since I am a disabled vet.
we took 1 Bus and it was FREE for all.

Day 7 we started our return trip.
This time we would stay the night in Ocracoke, since we would catch the early Ferry back to cedar island.

Stayed the night at Jurniman's Campground, was not impressed.
it was the highest priced of the trip, had cold showers, kind of run down.
I guess they know they are pretty much the only option to camp on the island.

I enjoyed the pictures of NC. We love to visit Okrakoke and take in the history. We stay at the KOA campground in Hattaras, which has full amenities and is sandwiched between the outer beach and the sound, so you can walk to enjoy the water on either side of the Island. OBX camp looks nice.

Updating the thread:

Feb 22, 2024
Found this surfboard in a local Salvation Army, went ahead and purchased it.
took a few photos with the bus, but ended up selling it locally on FB marketplace, probably would have kept it if it was red.

4-09-24:

Not every trip is trouble free... but this one was nerve racking!

Stopped for break in Louisville GA, I noticed something under my bus, ended up being gear oil.

after inspecting, and nerves about shot, picked up 10 qts of gear oil, filled it up with 2 qts and limped on to Wrens GA,
where we always stop at Peggys to eat lunch. ( highly recommended )

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

tried to find a Uhaul setup, but nothing available.
decided to keep filling it every 15 miles and get to the Hamilton Branch campground. it was only taking about 1/2 a qt per stop.

spent the night at the campground and the next moring, the rangers let me park it until I could get back later in the day ( 6 hrs later )
rode home got my truck and dolly and got Gary Bus home.
