Setting the points on a 54 Oval
Good picture for detail

Is that a radio suppressor (silver cylinder) to the right of the regulator?

I believe so but it's larger than most I've seen in the past

Cleaning up a '54 motor I had sitting and while glassing the tin noticed that the 3 and 4 cylinder top tins had been double stamped? Maybe a mixup at the stamp machine?

Weird but very cool.

I guess they had the numbers backwards?

These are all loose pumps so I don't know what month/year engines they were removed from.

938716 - Screw
999870 - Screw
1300635 - Screw
1304024 - Screw
1311009 - Screw
1578179 - No Screw
1659613 - No Screw

I’ve just picked up a no screw fuel pump with number
1711392 - no screw (so must be late in the run of no screw versions)

Here is my jan55 engine.
It was all original except the regulator. It has the early MANN filter.
Wiring needs to be finalized.

Please put your remarks

.

Good effort!
The 2 lhs regulator screws should be fitted from underneath

Your lead pipe clamps…are they the weldnut type? Or screw type?

Thx for the tip. Regulator was all that was missing :)
Clamps are screw types...

Sticker on the filter too

This is supposedly a very original 1955 engine
Month unknown

Have you have a lot of the fixings blackened?
Screws like the regulator mounting screws, fuel pump cap screws, carb screws/bolts?

Another pretty original 55 engine from p10:

Original to the engine as far as you know?

Tempie Mon Jul 29, 2024 1:44 pm

Yes, clamps are original.

Must honestly say, the sticker on air cleaner was not there when I found the car

The badge on the distributor is a reproduction. You might want to check the distributor body stamp to make sure it really is a BR3.

It looks like his dist tag is like this one. Mine is that style too, which is date code 5L.

I should have been more specific, sorry. I was referencing the distributor badge shown on page one of this topic.

Generator nut went to 21mm size in 1956

The real question is: What color were they painted? :D

Look! A squirrel!

Some date codes I saw while building a july 54 industrial engine. The matching engine was once replaced by a '59. Starter motor still the original one. The industrial engine had period correct date codes ( if I may believe this topic) and suits my 15july 54 very well. ( wheels are 7/54 , speedo 6/54)

1 clips from the distributor is not correct. Boxes are 3 holes but didn't find the older style cylinder tin. And maybe there's more stuff ?
