Any opinions on this car? My nephew is looking into buying it, seems like a pretty good deal to me…

I wonder if it was converted to manual from auto stick, or if someone switched the speedometer.

If it was converted I'd be curious how they attached the clutch cable tube. I've seen that job done very poorly and sometimes a lot of hack jobs.

My car, which you've sat in it, came from Albuquerque. It had very little rust in it. So, if this '68 lived a large part of its existence in those parts, then it is likely to have little rust in it too. A dry car is worth having even if the paint isn't perfect.

I am always leary whenever a car doesnt have its side trim. Is it for the owners idea of aethetics or is there bondo galore hiding in those rockers

Wow - this is a ‘bitsa’ (bits-a-this and bits-of-that).

Audi engine rear mounted in a Ghia! But it’s sitting on the tires, not suspension!!!

When asking the question, "Who's going to ride in the rear seat of your Ghia?" it's not often you get the answer, "a V6 engine"

Best not look.

Lots of work and parts needed, but it does have the option of letting you chose how much you want to spend on it.

Thoughts on this 61?
Two questions I have are, why are they color matching paint for the torsion bar covers, and where did the volkswagen emblem on the decklid go? I'm leaning towards not original paint.

Pretty nice survivor otherwise.
There was a thread recently where someone had mentioned how the '60 ribbed dashpads spilled over into '61. I can't seem to find it now. But this '61 does have a ribbed dashpad.
Must be a really early 61 since the speedo has a July 60 stamp.

Is that what the early wiper switches looked like behind the dash?

That guy gets some good stuff but has been called out in the past.

Yeah I'm not interested in the car as a purchase. More just curious on folks' take on its originality, as well as the 60/61 crossover point.
I've really been trying to find that thread about the dash pad with no luck!

Maybe these will shed some light on its originality.
