I was thinking about going with off white vinyl, with a black insert like Giz came up with for the 1500 club. That way, the seat vinyl would match the headliner, and the inserts would kinda match the doors. If not, go with a solid black center.

I was looking at getting the seats from SewFine. I just haven't decided whether or not I wanted the carpet from SewFine, or to get it from West Coast Classics. Lenny has the patterns for a correct T-34 carpet set, and they look to fit really nice. I'm just not sure about the price. SewFine wants 400 for their carpet. I think Lenny wants 800. :shock:

Ouch, that's something I didn't know: I thought it's either T14 or general T3 tracks.

O.K., searching back a few pages, I guess I neglected to add some info in regard to Bob's switching from a single ciruit to a dual circuit master cylinder (for safety reasons). But he had made note of it on the "vwtype3.org." site.
He had suspected it would be a minor issue, but had already come up with a solution.

So thru the magic of "cutting and pasting", this is part of his post to the list ( sorry if this is a "rehashing" of news, to those who visit both sites ):

Donn-da-da-donnn.... Jim Adney to the rescue, Again! He sent Bob a late brake pedal pushrod, to replace the one Bob stole out of the 71 Square-vert to get "Wolfie" that much closer to being road worthy.


So, before Bob gets the late brake pedal pushrod put back into the Sq-vert. I thought some photos were in order, just in case any one was interested in seeing the difference.

In this shot, the Early one is on the left, even with the threads of the adjuster part, butted up against the clevis (not screwed in at all), it's not as long as the Late one on the right.


A close up, that's the 1/2" or so short, that required Bob to use the later style one, rather than the early:


The Early style measured 5 3/4", wound in all the way, to equal the amount of the stud peeking out the bottom of the Late one, as pictured.

The Late one, pictured as is, measured 6 1/4" (152mm).

interesting, is it the same deal with all t3's? My notch didn't have any of the brakes and i just used the pushrod that was attached to the mystery pedal assembly that came with the car...works like a charm. For once my serbian luck didn't strike.

I believe it's true of all type 3s.

Well, to be honest, not a lot has been happening with Wolfie. I did go out to Marilyn's last week (while Mark was there), and visited for a while with her and Mark. I did get a set of 4 correct T-3 hub caps, that with a little elbow grease, will clean up nice enough to use. Then I'll have to paint the "logo" part of them for the caps to be correct for a T-34. In 64 they had painted logo's (at least my OE caps did). Other than that, I've just been working on other stuff (making some cash), so I can afford to do the seats and the rest of the inside.

I also have some company here from out of town (2 different states), and I picked up the "California arrowhead" (a BIG chunk of bondo that Russ named, since the replacement nose section came from California) that originally came out of Wolfie's nose. Sue asked Marilyn IF she could have it. Sue calls it "Wolfie's bling. :wink: I'll clear coat it, and it too will become a "display" item. 8)

The VW in the hubcaps was no longer painted black starting at the beginning of the '64 model year.

OK, but the ones that came with my T-34 were painted. Maybe I should just leave them all chrome. :-k

When people ask why are they painted-tell them they were replaced in 1975 at a dealer and all he had was the early painted ones :wink:

Official dealership replacement :lol: If it me me Id paint them-cuz I like them painted. ill take the .02% point deduction in correctness.

Mine were painted originally. The 4 I picked up last week are correct t-3 hub caps though, just not painted. I may paint them though, since I'll be 2 toneing the rims (Sea blue centers, with white outers). It won't be stock, but it'll look good. :wink:

Not a lot new. I did finally get both front seats sandblasted, and epoxy primed, but not much else. Here's a couple of pics.



Unfortunately, the weather here is cooling off, so I've been trying to get my winter stuff ready to go, while it's still warm out. Well that, and finishing up summer projects for others while I can.

I run into that around here with the change of seasons. You have to plan out projects that are temp dependant vs. ones you can work on durring the colder weather.

Seat frames look good. New padding makes such a huge difference.

Isn't that the truth the weather here has been wet all summer & no time for projects out doors

Well, since I basically got Krunchy ready to go for now, I thought I'd bring Wolfie back into the shop, and do some other finish up work, like wiring in the fog lights, seeing what was going on with the wipers (they wanted to run all the time), and general stuff like that. Here's a couple of pics with him back in the shop, and now sporting his "new to him" hub caps.




I got the fogs to work today, and did play around with the wipers too. They're working like they should now. Don't know IF I had something plugged in wrong or what, but they work (actually park correctly). 8) The wiper arms and blades will probably get installed in the spring though. I'll try to get some pics of the lights on in the dark soon. :wink:
