Yep. I didn't order one after reading this thread, but evident that I'll need one.

Also for anyone that orders one note: mine didn't come with the gasket/seals for the exit tin pieces.

I use foil tape. You don't see it and it sure works better than the aftermarket rubber seals.

I USE to use foil tape until my engines were lasting longer that the tape. It seems like the tape cant take the heat for LONG, I mean LONG .....50 K mile periods. Had it fail twice, got sucked into the fan. Fortunately, the motors were local and ran long enough to make a tremendous amount of noise. Checked the tape and it had lost ALL of its sticky. Yea, it works better until it doesnt.

Using the wrong tape. Recently did a clutch on a engine i did years ago. The tape is still there and not coming off easily.

I plan on using tape as well, but want the rubber as a back up and to minimize any vibration.

I just added some thick rubbery weatherstripping between all my oil cooler tin bits this weekend and it fixed the super annoying rattle I had on hard acceleration, the tape I used initially didn't hold for crap :lol:

I Found it listed at several of the "big box" stores (Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart, etc.) as well as AMAZON online.

Should seal it up "as tight as gnat's @ss stretched over a #2 washtub" as my Grandfather used to say!! :lol:

I have a 36hp style cooler on my sand rail with a swing axle trans & I am right in that 3300 @ 55mph bracket. Trans was built by Leduc Racing c9mponents. Would I benefit from a shroud like this or would I be better off sealing up & optimizing the setup I have?

Well, if they weren't made in China then, they will be now.

Just received mine from JBugs. Box has EMPI made in ROC Taiwan stickers on the original Concept 1 box. :cry:

So I’m deleting the heater boxes from my 71 super running j tubes,industrial tins,all factory German tins,thermostat oil bath cleaner,34 pict on a 1641.not a huge fan of the 36hp style especially with quality.would this fan housing be ok with my bug?im using a 3.88 trans and will be doing more highway driving than in town.original thing fan housings are just as much

I installed one on a 2017 in a 66 Bus. Fit and finish is equal to OEM. Flaps, linkage and thermostat fit just like stock.

I installed one, but unfortunately had to have it hacked to pieces and re-welded… sure wish they would make a version that fits type 1 manifolds. Had interference with both GB and CB manifolds. But she looks sexy now!

EDIT: figured out the interference, it was the inner flaps hitting the cylinder fins. Which makes sense since the barrels are larger.

I’m mocking up my build using the cooled fan shroud with the type 4 cooler. I’m also running the stock thermostat flaps. What linkage rod are those of you running this setup using? I’m using a 75-79 linkage and so far it’s pretty tight with the base of the cooler. I’m worried it might interfere when everything is buttoned up.

Was there any modification of the linkage needed on your setups or is there another version of the linkage that works better?

Not sure what your problem was. Here's their fan shroud, with fresh air, and CB manifolds.

The shroud is the same dimensions of the stock one and i've had both Dellorto and 48 IDAs with no problem.

They were the type 1 shorter manifolds from CB. But the gene berg manifolds didn’t fit either. Manifold flanges and carb linkage would have hit the edge of the shroud.
