I'm so glad I got out of Comifornia when I did. Weather and landscapes are beautiful there, but everything else... nah.

What's next? Ban on fires in your own fireplace at home... Oh wait, that already exists in Comifornia. Ban on gas cooking stoves in your home... New York already has that one, California might be next in line...

Ok... I'll stop, going outside now to yell are the clouds!

Such a scam!

Actually...sadly....its NOT done after hours. Its simply that unless there is a vote going on, nothing is requiring the congress members to actually be there. That is a travesty....the travesty.

This is what REALLY needs something to be done about it. Not to get off track but this is what I would propose:

To start with, members of congress are paid $174,000 per year. While that sounds like a ton of money to some people....in the DC area that is the functional equivalent of about $65,000 in Dallas Texas. I have lived in worked in both areas.
The cost for a house or apartment in the DC area is second only to the bay area in cost.

For that pay, you will not get virtually any member of congress to do only one thing for money...which is stay in DC and do their jobs full time. So....

1. Double their pay. Right now the basic budget to pay 435 congress members is $75.7 million per year. Compared to the billions we spend elsewhere and STILL NOT get anything done...its cheap. Up that $150 million

2. So you have been hearing about all of these now unused federal office buildings? Take two of those...one for senate and one for congress. Each person will have a small apartment and an attached office large enough for a small staff. You could do this in about 1500-2000 square feet each. Thats about 660,000 square feet.

They all already have offices so we could do this in a dorm style small apartment complex with about 950 square feet each.

NOTE: the federal government GSA has ~93 MILLION square feet of office space in the Washington DC area.

3. Require these now well paid, free-officed and free work dwelling public employees to be at the capitol...on time....everyday or they start getting docked.

4. Require them to VOTE for every VOTE....there is no abstaining or voting "present" like we see that does nothing. You vote yes or no.....up or down.

You miss three votes without a health issue...you are out....and you are fined.

5. Term limits.

You know they don't want to do that. Then they would actually have to vote on EV's.

It's a politicians life to abstain from voting on something that would make their re-election rocky. So they don't vote.

This is partly how we ended up with the administrative state. Some politicians don't want to vote on the things that the Administrative state takes care of. It could cause them to not get re-elected. So they just let the Administrative state do it. If it is in their interest they complain about it otherwise they do nothing.

Additionally, allowing all of these automatic things to occur saves them time. They can just show up for the important stuff.

A few years back it came to light that one of our senators maintained an Ottawa address but lived in Mexico. He had not been seen in his seat in parliament... if I remember correctly... in 8 years!

Now there's not much value in those tax dollars!

Sounds like home/rent prices will be dropping soon in D.C. along with cheap retail and other commercial property.

Hopefully the cyborgs created by artificial intelligence machines will figure out how to contain nuclear fusion in a tokamak.
Isn't Starship Enterprise already using this technology?

And a number of our Government Leaders' names were found on Tax Haven lists a number of years ago which went quiet very quickly. Major Banks make most of their profit through their offshore accounts and investments where they operate under a different set of rules and don't pay tax on.

Privilege = a different set of rules as we've seen almost daily in the news...and many of them drive EVs. :)

Funny that you mention this issue (offshoring of profits).

Ever since DJT's first term, one of the hallmark lies foisted every day by the liberal media here in the US is that DJT gave an ~$2 trillion dollar tax cut to his "rich friends".

Actually he gave two large tax cuts. The first was a tax cut for every man and woman taxpayer in the US...regardless of income level.

The second was most important and what they are REALLY speaking of. He cut corporate taxes. It worked out to somewehre around $1.7 to $1.9 trillion. Its where the $2 trillion quote comes from.

In the deal was the requirement that companies with offshore headquarters had to return some or all banked off-shore profits as well as invest in more US production.

As a result, over the next two years, approximately $4.3 trillion in offshore money was returned to the US economy. Over the remiander of his term we got about 50 factories and 150,000 jobs out of it due strictly to the corporate tax cut.

Pretty f'in good for a supposed tax cut for his rich friends.

People are people. You put them in government jobs and they are still going to be people. Government isn't there to help you. The people in government have their own self interests in mind. Just because you elect them into government doesn't change that. This includes their votes for EV's.

Agism is bad discrimination. Shame on you. Incompetence can and should result in removal, but age is not a good factor for determining that. Hell there are plenty of folks way below that age that are incompetent as Hell.

Shame, shame, shame.

Yea, God forbid anyone does any real research.

GE, First Solar and Weathertech all came back, to name a few.

Now CA is trying to not only pick up the EV subsidy (which, was going to sunset anyway) they won't let Tesla be included in it.

Such tolerant people, those Californians... they are so blinded by their own hate they can't even see the hypocrisy

What’s the minimum age qualification for President? Agism is in the Constitution. Imagine that.

A minimum age is a bit different than a maximum age. With age comes experience through the years. I think the minimum age for President is in place for this reason, to assure we get folks for this job that have at least a certain level of life experience, that comes with living a long time. To cut someone off cause of a maximum age is bad however.

My Dad worked well past 72 at his job in engineering. Many folks work well, are smart, and do well in their seventies and beyond.

Some have cognitive issues well below that age however, other have physical issues, balance, strength, stamina and that can happen early for some, late for others.

My father's 82 and runs two businesses. He goes to work every day. Nothing wrong with old people. They tend to be wiser.

I saw a bunch of Lion busses for sale over the past year at Auctions. Seems like a lot were low mileage. People bought them and are turning them into Skoolies. The battery banks are huge.

Maybe the workers can learn to mine coal!!!!

These electric school bus jobs are basically welfare programs as most of these busses are bought with government grants to school districts. All part of the green agenda that is driving up debt. Our yet to be born grandkids will be stuck with the bill with tax debt slavery long after these busses are turned into bean cans.

Changes are coming. Looks like the USPS may not be getting their EV's mandated by Biden. The USPS never wanted EV's.

https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportat...024-12-06/

The local Canoo EV manufacturing plant here in Oklahoma City is struggling and will probably file bankruptcy. They made 6 EV vans for the USPS.
