I wouldn't ship it. I understand that if the top gets torqued it would break the glass. It also weighs a bit too. Unless it's got some kinda crate surrounding it. _________________ "Okay, so there's 6 beers and 5 of us. You know what this means don't you? 4 of you are going to have to leave."

I saw a top for sale on Craigslist up there in Washington about a week ago. Might be your best best. _________________ 72 181 Ambulance

I shipped a Mendiola transaxle a couple of months ago from CA to KS and used Con-Way. They were less than half the cost of Fedex and some of the other carriers. Here is a link: http://www.con-way.com/en/freight |

I shipped a hardtop from So CA to NY, cost $400. I used UPS contract shipping since the size was over size. Greyhound is very reasonable but has size restrictions that the top exceeds. _________________ 74 181 Thing

Using UPS on that, did you build a cradle or crate? _________________ "Okay, so there's 6 beers and 5 of us. You know what this means don't you? 4 of you are going to have to leave."

I'm curious to hear what you go with. I'm really interested in finding a top and I'm also in Washington. |

I have shipped big stuff worldwide and from my limited experience the cheapest way to ship stuff too big for Greyhound is:
1. Use a common carrier (Yellow Freight or other)
2. Drop the item at your closest terminal and have the receiver pick up the parcel at his closest terminal
3. For a hard top to arrive in-tact it must be crated.
4. To build a hard top crate you only need to use 1" x4"
If anyone is interested in how I build the crates email me at [email protected] and I will email you the instructions. |

I built a open crate. Made a pallet base for using a pallet jack. _________________ 74 181 Thing

Try Uship to get competive quotes for shipping the top to your location...I have used Uship this in the past with success. |

I have packed these before starts with a 4x 8 on a pallet, and build up around it from there, quite the process! _________________ Michael Basso
