I hate to waste the server space on such a specific request for info, but the search results haven't given me any love. And believe me, I searched as best I could before deciding to create a new thread here.
Well, to get to the point I was wondering if anyone here in Sambanista land is familiar with Healdsburg, CA and knew of any acceptable stealth spots we could use for just one night? I have to go to a wedding in Healdsburg on the weekend of 10/13 and all of the hotels/motels my GF looked up are booked. I'm all over Google Earth and and think I've found a few decent spots on the Russian River, but I know thats typical Westy mentality and those spots are usually either fenced or frequently patrolled. (I'd like to avoid both since we will be coming from a rowdy type of wedding reception.) I've also noticed Hilltop Road, but it also seems a little too obvious, and with the tree cover I've seen on Google Earth I cant see how many structures might be in the area.
Any suggestions will be more than appreciated. _________________ Have fun and stay safe,

Various areas around Lake Sonoma / Rockpile Road used to work well on overnighters for dawn patrol mtb rides. Slightly further north (and up elevation) are The Geyser (Geysers Road), Pine Flat Road, etc. These roads do climb. I'll post more info if other ideas come to mind. Cheers |

Find out what hotel your friends are staying at and just park in their parking lot. Then you'll have access to facilities and will blend in with the crowd. _________________ 89 Westy 2.1 Auto |

If you are in a Vanagon you can sleep ANYWHERE! I do in Sonoma all the time and never get hassled. _________________ North American Hightop Installer/Distributor

There were some potentially decent spots off Westside Road heading south of Healdsburg when I lived in the area, but that was ten years ago. Look along Sweetwater Springs Road if you're playing with the satmaps. +1 for Geysers Road as well .. some nice spots you might be able to make work along there.

X2... BTDT, just don't pop the top and no issues. |
x3. The car park of the reception venue. Sorted. No taxi, no walk, just stagger out and to bed. _________________ Adrian

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'll be scouring Google Earth when I get home.

Thanks PDXWesty this was my first thought, but GF didnt like it. This is her crowd and she thought it would be too embarrassing (she's new to the Westy lifestyle). I bet people would think it was cool.

Did you try the L&M Motel? I used to stay there when I was in town for the guitar festival. Cool, old school place. _________________ '85 Wolfsburg Edition Westfalia Weekender, Zetec #36, w/ Peloquin TBD

If all else fails there's a KOA up the highway a bit outside Cloverdale that I've used a for a night a couple of times .. mostly for the shower & laundry practicalities that state park & stealth camp options don't give you on longer trips.
He's a Bay guy but you might see if you can get ahold of Ritter on here (http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=40906) to see if he's got any suggestions -- he lives in Healdsburg and has a much better feel for the current situation than I would.
Also, it's a bit of a drive but there's a few spots along Green Valley Road a bit off 116 near Forestville .. around that "S" bend that it takes. Some other potential spots off Mays Canyon Road farther out 116 (but before Guerneville), but local legend say it's haunted back in there. |
